The only problem is that Cortez was confused and non assertive when he half assed signaled for the fight to continue. Think about it, how assertive and insecure of the proceedings is a ref when he half ass signals for a continuance of the fight and then turns away from the fighters to instruct something to the timekeeper??? The proper thing to do when there's a break in the action (in this case to take a point away from Ortiz) is to get between the fighters and then assertively yell "time in, fight."......as the ref is doing this, he then steps back and lets the fighters resume the action, but all along keeping his eyes on the action and not turn away to instruct something to anyone. If Cortez needed to instruct something to the timekeeper, he should have done so before his half assed attempt to signal for resuming of the action. Cortez should lose his job for his inept performance of his duties, but this is boxing, he wont.:-(
