Look man all I know is prime pac would have eventually hurt Mayweather.

And then all bets were off. Who knows how Floyd would react to that.

If it had nothing to do with pac's power Mayweather would fight him any type of way.

Mayweather was willing to engage cotto much more even at times when he could get away he didnt.

I think it comes down to Pac power and speed in his punches.

Because Cotto's aggression was more effective than Pacquiao's.

This thread ignores the fact that Pacquiao and Cotto have different styles.

Tko6 is a way better win. First Marquez actually hurt pacquiao.

And second the pacquiao in that fight was closer to peak pacquiao.

Have you seen the punch stats?

    Jabs
    Mayweather 81/429 (25%)
    Pacquiao 18/193 (9%)

    Power punches
    Mayweather 81/168 (48%)
    Pacquiao 63/236 (27%)

    Totals
    Mayweather 148/435 (34%)
    Pacquiao 67/267 (19%)

Manny had a poor showing due to his inability to get to his preferred mid-range, he had a terrible strategy, was too tentative after the two hard right hand counters in the first round, walked in straight lines and Roach didn't teach to cut off the ring. His head movement was brilliant and he had 2 good rounds, 4 and 6, he had no speed or size advantage against floyd.

    Maybe

Cotto aggression was more effective maybe because of how Mayweather was willing to stand and trade

also i would like to point out Pac power showed in the fight more then cotto's

Pac's left hand shots in round 4/6 were more effective then anything cotto did i don't remember even if cotto managed to land flush shot to the head baring jabs to the head

    1. It's smart not to fight two completely different opponents the same way.
    2. Cotto can cut off the ring.
    3. He was trained by his uncle in 2012, Floyd Sr takes a more safety first approach.

Good point i remember a interveiw after the fight Mayweather said his dad told him to press the attack but he said its easy when your outside the ring.

Mayweather many times even walked cotto down

Mayweather understood early that trying to trade with pac would be suicidal

Seeing as how Pac couldn't prevent the clinch and Floyd is slower today than he used to be, I think the fight would've played out the same, more or less.

Nope, just the speed. Both guys have power and he's faced bigger punchers than Pac. It's the speed.

Pac hurt him badly in round 4 and also hurt him round 6 we always knew Pac would hurt him its just the circumstances.

cotto was more aggressive because Mayweather stood and traded with him when he had the option to use his legs and still Pac hurt him more.

No Pac is the biggest puncher he faced and you could tell he was very woried about the power i am being honest here i never thought floyd would be so worried.

    Pac hits harder then cotto.
