Marquez threw more shots against Mayweather, than he did in both Pacquiao fights. And considerably more than Mayweather himself. Mosely threw more shots against Mayweather, than Mayweather himself. And not actually that many less than he did against Margarito (per round). Marquez landed 60 against Mayweather. Mosely landed 90 against Mayweather. Mayweather landed about 290, in return. Around 55% of everything he threw. The problem with these fights wasn't that they weren't throwing shots. Or being aggressive. It was the fact that every 10 punches they threw, they were only landing 1, and getting 3 back in return. They Mayweather conundrum - how to hit someone, who's very hard to hit, and not get hit yourself.
You mean Mayweather has mastered the art of hitting without getting hit? Really? I wouldn't have guessed...
Did you guys know Floyd is actually bald! :adminIncredible the things you can find out these days with a little research.
interesting to see it broken down by the numbers. People like to think Mosely gassed in that fight yet he continued to throw down the stretch he was just plain out foxed and unwilling to walk thru the punches to win
You're mixing things up there. Mosley threw 452 and landed 92 (20%), Mayweather threw 477 and landed 208 (44%). Arguably Shane landed the two best punches of the fight. And for 208 landed shots by Floyd, Shane sure looked unharmed afterwards. So while statistically the fight was dominated by Mayweather, he looked about as good doing it as Wladimir Klitschko looked beating Hasim Rahman (178/369 or 48% vs 30/207 or 14%). Call me old-fashioned, but when I watch a fight, I want to see people hit each other, I wanna be impressed by a guy who can take a punch. I don't care about people not getting hit and skillfully outpointing each other. I could watch fencing for that.
