Ortiz beat clear-cut #3 WW Berto and dropped Lamont Peterson twice en route to a largely controversial draw. Credit to Lamont for coming back strong but most everybody had Ortiz winning by 2 points over Lamont.

Beyond that, their resumes are very similar having beaten Friday Night Fights quality opponents and badly faded fighters for the most part beyond their top victory.

Ortiz was 24 and was highly thought of years prior as a prospect.

Algieri was 30 and most people on this forum didn't know who he was entering the Provodnikov fight. Also, factor in that all polls I've seen show that most viewers thought Provodnikov beat Algieri on their scorecards, and geeeeez, you sure you want to stand by that claim?!?

 

Which of the two fighters entered the discussed fights without a single victory at Welterweight plus coming off a loss and which of the two fighters was the Welterweight lineal champ and hadn't lost in 8 years?

their resumes are pretty close but that has NOTHING to do with which is a better fighter. Bradley has looked horrible really since he left 140, he doesn't have the skills needed to compensate for his lack of size fighting at WW.

I don't respect the opinions of most folks on here because they can't rationalize their claims. You think I care about polls?

In the poll between Algieri and Provodnikov, Provodnikov received 60+% of the votes. Yet when Pac signed to fight Algieri right after, you could check the public poll and see that posters who voted for "Provodnikov won" were then saying how Algieri bested him and how they scored it for Algieri and how it was a great win, blah blah blah.

Polls on this site are popularity contests. Always.
