Au contraire, I happen to think Mayweather did everything he needed to, and everything he wanted to against De La Hoya. He made it interesting for entertainment value, but dictated the entire fight and won a very, very clear UD. Anyway I was half-joking about the Calzaghe comment. Ya there is always a chance he would get knocked out 9even though he's never been close.) I just think that Calzaghe has yet to do anything to really impress me, even against the sub-par level of oposition he has faced. Mayweather on the other hand, has beat quite desicivley some of the fastest, most technicly skilled fighters, as well as a few heavy hitters and "tough guys", without ever really having a problem.
Corrales was coming off a 4 month layoff when he fought Mayweather, and he went to jail after he fought Mayweather. How is it common knowledge that he wanted no parts of Casa when he said he wanted to fight the winner of Casa/Freitas right during the post fight interview of the Corrales fight? Sure, Corrales was facing legal troubles when he fought Floyd. However, Floyd was facing his own legal troubles when he fought Gatti. Gatti was hardly drained in that fight. He was past his prime, but saying he was way past his prime is stretching it. He was 33 and hadn't lost in 3 years.
Calzaghe beat nobody so far beside Eubank who took the fight without preparation on a few days notice.
At What Points In Their Careers Were The Fights And Were They Coming Off Losses?????????????????????????????????
That's why I mentioned how he hadn't lost in 3 years. He also went up in weight in beat up Damgaard in his very next fight.
I agree. The answer to the question is obvious but Joe is a great fighter and I take absolutely nothing from him and have a ton of respect for him.
