Ken was exceptional. I never did like the fact that Duran fouled him and was rewarded with the title as a result. Floyd, though, would outbox him in a close fight.
I would love to see Floyd vs a master boxer like Ken because I have not seen how he adapts to a good mover with a jab. I think Floyd would take a close decision because he had the edge in hand speed but Ken was gritty
I'd go with Mayweather in a split decision, though I see Buchanan giving him plenty to think about in earning it.
Kens lateral movement and Jab would give Floyd hell, plus he had an amazing work rate and fighting spirit and was teak tough all over on quite ridiculous levels, as was his stamina. He also had an atg varied jab and countered with class. His jab was like a piston constantly pumping out while he moved laterally. Kens lack of power means this defo goes to points where I cant split them. 50/50 fight. Ken was hard to get to because his footwork and upper body movement was so good but he tended to leave his head unprotected at times, especially when he attacked the body with 2 3 punch combos. This exposed his iron head to uppercuts. I could see Floyd having a field day at times countering Kens body attacks with uppercuts, and pot shooting him clean with straight rights from range if Ken slowed down. Ring IQ is even between the two but Floyds speed and reach could be the key to victory if Ken's movement isn't up to scratch.
I am surprised at that opinion, Foxy. You must rate Buchanan very highly. I do, too and think Ken had the speed and movement to give Floyd problems. I have to pick Floyd, though; I think he is very hard to beat and I think only the absolute greatest fighters could do it. Maybe someone who could force him into a fight like Duran, Pryor or Armstrong?
http://youtu.be/RfVKFjbZLGE This is how great Ken was. Enjoy! could someone embed this vid for me please :good
Kenny was very clever but also tended to do the same thing consistently and that would play into Floyd's skill set, he would take advantage of that for a close decision of two highly skilled boxers.
