At about 3:25, can you not hear the ref say "Stop punching"

Yet when Floyd then disobeyed the ref and sucker punched Gatti and KDed him, the ref counted Gatti and did not penalize Floyd. You can see Gatti was pissed and hit the f'n ref.

He didnt disobey the ref he did stop punching. Then Gatti looks at the ref and put his hands down and Mayweather punched him. Just because the ref says stop punching doesnt mean you dont put your guard down. Ortiz, Gatti and many other boxers have learned the hardway

Yeah, people keep bringing that up but that was actually arguably not legal. It was definitely cheap, though. That ref had no ****ing spine, though.

unless the ref step into break the action you keep your hands up.. Period !!! Its the heat of battle.. Gatti looked at the ref an you can clearly see the ref shake his head meaning no foul ..

so Unless the ref steps in and breaks the action "protect yourself at all times"

Sure. But when the ref says stop punching and a fighter punches, the ref should warn the fighter for punching off the break or for not obeying his commands. Floyd disobeyed the ref, Gatti looked at the ref like "WTF" and Mayweather clocked him again. I guess 2 wrongs make a right. That ref had no spine.

Who isn't going to admit that Floyd is a dirty fighter? That was clearly a sucker punch. When Floyd comes forward, he'll do anything to land.

    That is such stupid BS.
Once a ref says "stop punching" you do not punch until he says "resume punching" or words to that effect.

I just love how Floyd fans invent **** to excuse his illegal actions in the ring. And actually blame the victim. It's like if floyd raped someone some here would twist and say "she didn't keep her hands up to try to stop him."

Blame the victim of illegal or foul actions--IF Floyd is the doer.

If Floyd were the receiver, they'd be hollering the opposite POV.

He did more than look at the ref. You can see that Gatti hit the ref as he was counting, because he knew Floyd should be the one penalized for disobeying his command.

The thing I find interesting re possible corruption in this one is that the ref does not warn or penalize or DQ Gatti for hitting him--as some are known to do.

You can not touch the ref like that. ANd that ref not saying anything may be very telling. He knew he didn't follow the rules, and doesn't want to further highlight this incident and so he ignores what Gatti did to him.

Gatti at least got up. As a fan of Gatti at the time I felt bad, but he had the **** beat out of him the entire ****ing fight. Like others before him, he was just past his prime. The skills he did have could not compete with Mayweather.

The difference to understand is that Gatti got up, and mad. He still couldn't get anything together at all on Money. Gatti, also, probably got no where NEAR as much money as Ortiz did, but he at least put up a fight worth caring about.
