4th May WBC Championship Mayweather v Guerrero

A couple of years ago and I wouldnt even bother making a thread like this for this fight. But, Mayweather at 36 is on the slide, is Guerrero meeting Floyd at just the right time?

Guerrero is very quick, light on his feet, southpaw, he can punch, very effective straight puncher, mentally tough and a very hungry fighter. He has moved up to welter a couple of fights ago and seems to have looked fine at his new weight, he has proved that he has carried his power at welter ie. see his knock downs against Berto.

This is still a fight that Mayweather, in theory, should be able deal with but I have a gut feeling that he will have a lot of trouble in this fight. Discuss?

****Also, please post any news articles, videos etc in this thread****

Mayweather UD. I think he has about as much trouble with Guerrero as he had with Cotto. The styles are obviously different and it'll be a different type of fight, but the scorecards will be roughly the same, and Floyd will accumulate about the same amount of damage. I think he'll also spend most of the time in the pocket, trading on the inside with Guerrero as he comes forward and tries to force the fight.

    Mayweather on points.

RG wins a couple of rounds and has a few good moments in the fight a little like the Cotto fight.

But i think Mayweather will just be too good and too smart for him.

Should be a decent fight though with a few back and fourth moments in there. Maybe a few closer rounds too.

FLoyd about 117-111 something like that i reckon

UD Mayweather is the smart bet I think.

Guerrero is tough and I expect him to stay in there until the end.

We're talking about Robert Guerrero, right? Theodore Bagwell?

Guerrero gives it his all but ends up with a badly beaten face. Mayweather is much harder to hit and has better accuracy. This spells trouble for the Ghost on the inside.

  8. I agree that this could be harder than expected but floyd constantly proves any sceptics wrong.he is exceptional at the art of hit and not be hit

But guerrero showed a willingness to battle against berto that I think he will replicate against floyd.
I think Robert will try to smother floyd against the ropes and try to bully floyd through fair means or foul, problem is berto had success later in the fight with good upper body movement off the ropes and floyd will be happy to engage in that fight as he is a master off the ropes.
At range I believe floyd will measure up Robert easily with lead hooks and right hands,so Robert will have to resort to fighting inside.

I see a similar outcome to the cotto fight with a rough fight won by floyds class by unanimous decision or late stoppage due to Guerrero being spent after putting everything in early.

    Could be good

Mayweather UD Guerrero will have his moments and he might even nick the odd Round but he gets beat very convincingly.

Roberto Guerro is unbeaten and one of the top pound for pound fighters in the world. But Floyd still wins because there is no blueprint.

Mayweather's stint in prison and the usual long lay off at the age of 36 does leave me with some uncertainty for the first time in predicting a Mayweather fight but still got to go with Floyd's brain over Robert's heart and will.

I don't really care who wins this fight though, I'm just hoping Mayweather's fallen enough to make this a closely contested fight.

Mayweather wins every round, last 2 or 3 get a bit brutal for Guerrero but he's a warrior so he survives

Can't go with anything else than a Mayweather UD.

However, the day will come when a faded Mayweather is simply outworked to a decision by a younger but lesser foe. I just don't think we are quite there yet.
