The Mayweather v Hatton fight generated £60 million for SKY TV in pay-per-view sales, the previous record was £48 million for the Lewis v Tyson fight back in 2002.

That means they got 4 million buys. I doubt that very much. In the paper it said they expected 400,000 but won't know for sure how many they got for several weeks.

Im not sure either. But it was a massive fight. 4 million buys aint totally out of the question. The fight was covered well via the media on TV and the written press.

The source was the Metro newspaper.

I read after the fight that it would take Sky 5 weeks to get accurate PPV figures

This is the main reason they hyped the fight so much in last few weeks or so, portraying an almost definite Hatton victory. The crowds bought into it and Sky and the bookies had a massive pay day.

Heard that a number of people have been reimbursed the £15 due to the dodgy advertising in between rounds!

Total disgrace imo - I dont think that even normal Sky sports et al should be allowed to advertise, given that you pay a sum to get the channels in the 1st place! They make money from your subscription and from the advertising companies....double whammy!

I'm guessing the figure included the extra fees they got from advertisers.

cant see 4 million people buying the ppv. especially when you consider most people will have watched with a group of mates. 4 million individual people buying the ppv cant possibly be accurate.

must have charged companies **** loads for adverts. which they could get away with given that no one will turn over inbetween rounds to avoid the ads, so its an advertisers dream in that sense.

Between advertisers and pubs paying commercial fees aswell as money from general buys it is very plausible that £60 million was generated .

Especially considering some of that money would be the buys and advertisements from Ireland aswell and the fight sold very well over here .

It was free on RTL, so Mr Murdoch got no money from me. The german channel Premier show all the top matches from the Premiership (their encryption is heavily hacked) so thats another few quid I save.

How do you work that out?

They got 797,000 buys, and do you think uk companies pay megabucks for 4am adverts, with pissed half asleep viewers?

    It aint Coronation Street.

I read 900,000 buys in the uk. What were the "dodgy adverts" ?
