This was a great fight, and Floyd was pushed all the way. He came through in a war, but did Chavez set up the blue print on how to beat Floyd? Why had fighters post Chavez not be able to get to Floyd as much as he did? Did Floyd just get that much better in the following fights? or no opponent was able to bring such intensity? Hatton tried and failed, but he did get some success.

Is non stop relentless pressure the way to beat Floyd? Mosely opted to fight more on the outside, should he have worked on more of an inside game and tried to rough Floyd up? I guess it does take a guy with relentless work rate to beat Floyd, but that someone needs to be someone pretty damn special.

I know most people see Pacman as that man, that will most likely take away Floyd's 0 but I was thinking more Miguel Cotto? since he has showed a good chin, warrior spirit and some boxing skills. Mayweather won't be as intense stylistically as pacman and margarito were, and the worst I think happens to Cotto is getting outboxed, but I think Cotto, if he was anywhere near the form that saw him a pretty strong force before Margarito, gives Floyd a hell of a fight.

Cotto's jab would give fmj problems for sure

Wasnt this the fight where Mayweather was struggling badly to make the 130lbs limit?

Who needs a blueprint? Roach said it himself, "Mayweather's legs are gone". He had trouble with Castillo, a lightweight that got his ribs broken by Cracky Fatton. The guy ain't nothing and he's only beaten has-beens like Grandpa Mosley and Oscar the tranny or weight drained bean poles like Corrales who got owned by gatekeeper Clottey who is feather-fisted and couldn't beat a Cotto who'd been destroyed by the plaster of a Mexican tomato can with a mullet who got destroyed by grandpa Mosley and Congroidsman Poochiao who got his ass knocked out by some bum ****ing Flyweight even though he came in with a weight advantage!

Castillo beat Floyd, so there's your blueprint. Track it down.

FYI, Cotto would not stand a chance vs Floyd. The only man to beat Floyd is Pacquiao.

Just a bad night for Floyd, hands hurt and weight drained. Chavez fought the fight of his life, but Floyd still won.

Floyd opted to brawl in that fight, with the advantages he had on the outside, he could have coasted to a decision. Chavez did nothing to force a brawl, Mayweather stepped inside, planted his feet and made it one. And stopped Chavez at his own game, so how is that the blueprint.

Non-stop pressure isn't the way to beat Floyd. This is a man who's not phased by pressure, he's one of the most composed guys in the ring around and without question the most adaptable. Even if you relentlessly pressure him for 2 or 3 rounds and win those, he'll adapt, figure you out and school you.

I'd argue that the only way to beat Floyd would be to consistently alter your gameplan and find a number of different ways to fight him during the course of a fight, not a straight-forward one where he'll figure you out within 5 or 6 minutes at most.

Or to take him out early, that's the best method of beating him. And of course that's not easy, but he hasn't got you quite figured out then. Take the Mosley fight, Sugar Shane jabbed to the body knowing Floyd would come down and block it with his right glove, leaving his body in the position where he couldn't shoulder roll the right hand. Something as simple as a jab to the body followed by a right-hand upstairs had Mayweater in trouble. But Shane got reckless, didn't finish the job and Floyd figured his strategy out.

Shane never bothered to adapt, carried on doing the same thing with Floyd's stance inviting him in and got countered with flush shots for the next 10 rounds.
