It's amazing that boxing is the only sport where the fans argue against stricter drug testing protocols because either:

1. the biggest proponent isn't liked by the masses and so it's the "in" thing to just disagree on principle
2. one of the two/three biggest stars of the sport is against the idea for whatever reason, while not actually able to give a consistent reason why, with the answer changing regularly both from a personal point, and depending on what different members of his team/entourage like to offer as a reason.


The strictest drug testing should be implemented across the board in boxing, that does not negatively (so far no evidence to support that it does) impact on performance.

Boxing is far more dangerous than cycling, baseball etc. And drug testing is so much more prominent there - it's almost as if as a sport - no one wants to implement the strongest drug testing incase it unearths a truth no one wants to know about.

I said RANDOM testing. I know what OSDT is and what is not.

However, what you got your panties in a bunch over is the fact that Floyd's "watered down version" of OSDT did not involve the fighters actually being blood tested up to the night of the fight (as you state in your quote below).

The understanding is that both fighters will willingly submit to urine and/or blood testing, from the start of training until they step foot in the ring, at any point during that time, when they are approached by USADA testing agents. It does not mean they WILL be approached for test samples on the night of the fight (pre-fight) or any specific day (or night) known to them. In fact, according to USADA, the testing days and sample types to procure are randomly (there's that word again) generated by a computer.

I think you need to "go back and do your homework."

Yes. They also busted the hell out of her later. She went to prison and lost everything.

The difference is testing with a captured organization versus testing with people who are dead serious about drug testing.

That meeting was to help NSAC weigh the merits of adopting USADA's practices. They ruled against adopting them. But, according to Keith Kizer (head of NSAC) the fighters can choose another agency to perform the testing for their fights (as long as it does not interfere with the NSAC tests).

I don't recall where NSAC put a rule in place against testing (by other agencies) being performed close to the fight. I recall them saying that there is a RISK of doing so (taking blood) prior to the fight, as well as directly after the fight in dressing rooms, which are not sterilized.

Do you have a quote or proof of NSAC having a policy that other agencies (of the fighters' choice) cannot test close to the fight? I listened to that call, and heard no such thing.
