Hold on This is the same Dragon Punch that slated me because I refuse to fund the fish tank and watch the Boxnation fights legally on an alternative satellite system and the odd stream if required.
Wrong. That's a completely different scenario. boxnation is a reasonably priced £12 a month for the majority of the best international fights plus it existence puts food on the table for domestic level kids and allows ****** to fund world title shots for the likes of Paul Butler etc etc. Sky trying to shaft us for some £30+ PPV (I don't think it would be that much I was just replying to the previous poster who thought it would be a possibility) warrants people IMO to look elsewhere to watch it with a clear conscience.
I don't agree with PPV at all when Sky already charge a subscription for sports including boxing. Imagine if the FA Cup Final or Premiership deciders became PPV - Sky would soon be out of business. Big Abdul informs me that Sky are working on the optimum pricing model so it does look like it will be more than the standard Eddie Hearn PPV rip off.
it'll be £25-£30 Sky Box Office I believe. they would've announced it already but are holding it off because news leaked out about them increasing their price packages by about £4 a month for most customers this week due to them *****ing £4bn on their self created EPL monster on thurs. what did big abdul say about that in the pub by the way? they are smug as **** - make the bbc look humble when it comes to stuff like this. I'll but May-Pac but never any matchroom PPV and will prob cancel my sky subscription in October anyway
Yeah fair enough mate !! What I meant is - me personally I'd pay if it was a ton - unmissable in my eyes ! But even the casual fans if they're wwilling to sit up till early hours, would they not pay the unlikely crazy fee ?
Sky have to be very careful with the pricing. Going over £20 is risky as psychologically people are not use to ever going over that. I would be surprised if it is priced more than £20.
It isn't like this fight needs British PPV money to happen. It's already going to happen whatever. And it doesn't need British PPV money for the boxers to be fairly paid, as they are already going to be getting massive sums. If this is on Sky Box Office, then it's just a way to milk fans by a channel that doesn't care much normally about international boxing. OK Sky can hype a fight more than anyone else, but I think they should keep Box Office for putting on domestic events that they otherwise wouldn't be able to fund. But anyway, I agree with kobashi that they wouldn't risk going over £20.
BN getting 2m new subscribers would be them increasing their subs base by 20-25x, just not feasible at all. Wouldn't be shocked if this did a million though with people buying the next day
Big Abdul knows how everyone feels about the obscene sums forked out for the Premiership games. His boss is a key player and knows they are paying well OTT but their stance is that they cannot risk losing this to a competitor after losing the Champions League. I did mention the price increases earlier on this thread and the Sky bosses know that this could be the straw that breaks the back for many subscribers.
thanks for the feedback. yeah they are walking a fine line between increasing revenue and ****ing loyal customers off
