I know what happened to Oscar there, but he was doing ok till that liver shot.
And that was his only clear decisive loss.

Floyd is a little better than Oscar and Kelly is not quite as good as Bernard, so it would be interesting.

If Floyd could pull it off, he would rank very high in the alltime lists.

But, as you, point out, he'd be the underdog.

Oh, for goodness sakes! Kelly hits much harder and fights much more
aggressively than the defensive minded Bernard. Hatton nearly knocked PBF on his butt when he bullrushed him in the first round.
Kelly corners him quickly and beats him down like he caught him
    stealing chickens.

Idiot that punch Hatton threw didnt land, floyd dodged it just like he dodged all of his slow ass punches and triped over Fattons leg.

another thing i think people are neglecting is that pavlik isn't even a normal size middleweight. the man is more of a super middleweight then a middleweight and he has power.

floyd...a natural lightweight with declining power would not be able to keep the bigger pavlik off him by potshotting all night. pavliks reach would make it hard for him to counter pav's jab. and if he doesnt get knocked out pavlik would win ud based on aggression, volume of punches, and i believe he could land the cleaner punches in the fight

:nonoMayweather will only lose if he does something stupid like moving up to Middleweight and facing Pavlik! Absurd idea.

30 year old.Miniscule Floyd: 5'8" 160lb. 71" reach against 25year old 6'2 1/2" 168lb.75" reach Pav...Floyd loses all his glamour in this fight-- plus his brain matter:nut -- and returns to " dancing with the stars."

Pavlik grows a little more every time someone posts about him.

In boxing, size means weight, not height.

Otherwise, the divisions would be organized along height lines.

Oscar won his first title at 130
    So did Floyd.

Oscar moved up and won titles in all divisions up to 154.
    So did Floyd.

Oscar took a tune-up (Sturm) at 160 and then faced Bernard.
    So could Floyd.

    Why not?

Bernard was better than Kelly is currently.
Floyd is better than Oscar was.

I'm not a Floyd fan, but if he were to beat Cotto at 147, then Winky at 154, and then do as I suggested and pull it off and retire undefeated, I would probably rank him #1 alltime p4p.

Pavlik would be a clear favourite, and I'm not saying Floyd SHOULD go this route, but anyone who thinks Floyd would have zero chance knows very little about boxing.

Footnote: If Taylor beats Pavlik, sustitute Taylor for Pavlik in the above post.

The fact that Hopkins may have been a better boxer or not than Pavlik at the time Bernard faced ODH is irrelevant -- when you're a smaller boxer moving up in weight, you'll rather face a boxer than a pressure fighter with stamina and power. Your speed advantage (from coming up in weight) would help you in making the fight competitive against the boxer. It will do much less against the pressure fighter.

Floyd would come into this fight either light, in which case even Pavlik's jabs could faze him -- or overweight, in which case Floyd would tire out in the later rounds.

ODH would have been knocked out by Pavlik earlier.

McGrain is just trying to find a challenge for Floyd -- this is one. It will never happen, but it's fun to speculate.
