While I know this will never happen, and it's unlikely that Mayweather is comfortable making 140, I think this would be an excellent fight.

Mayweather for all his tallent, has been fortunate enough to never have faced a tall, skilled boxer, with an excellent jab.

Ali Funeka is a guy that is not only tall, and skilled, with one of the best jabs in the business, he's also very fast and from what I've seen resilient, focused, and determined.

While he's been down before, as was the case in the fight against Nate Campbell in which Funeka almost dominated every round by keeping Nate on the end of his jab, Nate is also considered a big puncher, especially at lightweight.

In fact just last year, the RING named him as the best puncher in the lightweight division. And while Mayweather fights differently than Nate, in his attitude and skillset, I do not think that he is as big of a puncher as Nate.

And I'm not talking about a PFP sense, I mean bigger puncher, PERIOD. And this is not unreasonable. I think the majority of people feel that Pac is also a bigger puncher than Mayweather, and he too is a smaller man.

What makes me feel that this would be an excellent fight is because Funeka's physical characteristics, and style would make it very difficult if not impossible for Mayweather to beat him on the outside.

In fact, given what I saw in a dominating performance against Guzman, in which I thought the fight should have been stopped in 10th or 11th round due to Guzman's inability to hurt Funeka and Funeka's consistency, along with Guzman just taking uncecessary punishment, I think it is safe to say that Funeka would cause Mayweather similiar problems.

And yes, while Mayweather has a slight size advantage and power advantage over Guzman, he is not near as an aggressive fighter by nature, and considering Funeka's excellent jab, overwhelming reach, and skill at using his size, he would begin to bust Mayweather up from the outside like we've never seen him busted up before.

Mayweather would have to make an adjustment that we very rarely have ever seen him make, but this time he would have to make the adjustment to win the fight, rather than simply to dominate an outskilled or outsized opponent.

While I'm giving Mayweather the benefit of the doubt and saying that he'll win a decision, just on the basis that he IS Mayweather, I really have very little evidence to go on that he would win this fight except he's a bit bigger, stronger, and harder hitting than Guzman.

But still, Guzman has a bravado that he's shown on more than one occasion that I've never seen Mayweather bring to the ring.

Whether Mayweather wins or not, he will get busted up in this fight. A guy like Funeka is a nightmare match up for Floyd. Same goes for other guys who have similiar characteristics like, Vernon Forrest, Tommy Hearns, Sugar Ray Robinson, and Sugar Ray Leonard.

Just look at Floyd's fight with Phillip Ndou to see how he would demolish Funeka.

I don't think so. Get the **** outta here with that bull****.

First of all N Who has very little handspeed, doesn't have the reach, nor height, nor jab that Funeka has, and he often crouches foward, giving up his height and fights like a pressure fighter.

You might as well have said, look at how Floyd fought Ricky Hatton and that will give you an idea on how he'll beat Funeka.

    That's ridiculous.

Funeka doesn't give up his height. I've never seen him. And his jab is very fast, and he doubles and triples it.

He's knows how to fight his fight, which is on the outside, Floyd will be the one that has to adjust and become the aggressor.

Floyd would put on a clinic and tko ali. Floyd got power at 140 fighting guys at 140. Ali's team would throw in the towel. Guzman is not right in that fight with ali. Guzman looks tired and over the hill from lack of activity and weaken to make weight. Guzman ballons up in weight between fights and unmotivated after his miss opportunity against cambell. Add to the fact that Guzman is a water down version of floyd. Guzman got the standing defense and thats it. Floyd got better footwork, power, and offense.

My god. It would be Floyd vs Chico but much worse. Funeka starts so slow. Floyd would **** him up quick.

Reaper remember Floyd has always dominated tall fighters like Corrales, Genaro Hernandez, Tony Pep and Phillip Ndou.

Is a noob post by reaper. Just bc Ali got success against a fighter that is somewhat like floyd (guzman) doesn't mean ali would have success against floyd. Floyd is clearly a much better fighter than Guzman. Guzman at peak is really good fighter but still, he is not mayweather's level.
