The last pounds are always the hardest and his schedule is dialed in at this point. From what I've read they almost NEVER compensate correctly for that extra weight thinking they have to just 'tweak' what they are already doing a bit. What happens in reality is they usually have to go through extraordinary measures at the very last moments before weigh in. That can be a difference maker. But, all speculation since each case is different.
