What other guys bar Pacquiao are there to fight, I cant think of anyone other than Berto. Especially with the Haymon TMT connection. http://www.boxingscorecard.com/2012/08/floyd-mayweather-vs-andre-berto-next-up.html
if floyd is fighting this year, berto is fair enough as a tune-up. but if this would be for next year, he could fight several options including pac.
why not? bradley is not much of a draw so arum would be glad pitting him against a PPV star in floyd.
Arum's just a *****. I could see him noticing that there isn't many options available for Mayweather and basically the bout won't happen from there.
he is a ***** but he has no ill will for floyd. his actual beef is with GBP. if an opportunity to earn money presents itself, i doubt that he would not let bradley take the floyd fight. the issue actually is if floyd wants to work with arum.
Nah, I think it's both ways. Neither wants to work with the other. Depends if Pacquiao says he wants Bradley rematch after Marquez (which I think will happen November). If he says he wants the rematch, no chance Arum lets Bradley near Mayweather.
Canelo, Martinez and Bradley are all there. The first two would be easy to make at 154 and, assuming Sergio beats Chavez, that would be making a big statement.
If he was to go after Martinez, I'd advise a tune up first. Doesn't even need to be a southpaw, just an opponent who'll give Mayweather rounds, keep fighting and allow him to practise his timing.
I understand that thought process but, even after extensive lay-offs in the past, Floyd has never come back looking rusty. His timing always seems to be on-point. Also, given that he only seems to fight once or twice a year, is there even any time for a tune-up? I doubt we'll ever see Floyd in a fight like that again - I think it's big fights or nothing.
I agree with you on that. I just think that Martinez is so different to anyone Mayweather has faced in years, that a little extra prep work would do him good. To beat Martinez you need to time his movement. He makes messers Mosley and Marquez look incredibly flat footed, so this really is a different cattle of fish for Mayweather.
I agree that it'd be Floyd's biggest test for a long time but don't ever underestimate Floyd's ego. The idea of him thinking he needs extra work, a tune-up, or to change anything at all would most likely seem foreign to him. I'd really like to see how Floyd would deal with someone like Martinez - a good counter-puncher with movement, some power and a hands-down stance which invites the opponent to throw first.
