It's not so much B-Hop's offense he had to figure out, but how to hit Hopkins without being countered by that one punch at a time.
I agree with this accept chin, Mayweather has a chin. Very underrated chin. I've seen all his fights, and his chin has been tested plenty of times :yep
He really wasn't hitting Hopkins that much. He was winging punches that were hitting air, shoulders, and elbows. How hard is it to avoid being countered when you only have one punch to look out for?
Mayweather has never faced an opponent like Joe and vice versa. I do give Floyd a slight edge because I believe that by the time Joe adjusts to PBF's style, PBF will have made just enough adjustments of his own to get the Split Decision in a 12 rounder. Extremely close fight though.
A lot of guys try to do the shoulder roll style, but none can do it like PBF. He is hard to hit even when he is right there in front of you. Not only that but he has shown that he can remain calm and collected while his opponents are trying to pressure him with output. I think that would go a long way for him in this fight, not panicking when calzaghe sets a fast pace.
It's not. That's why Joe was able to make those adjustments after round 1 and start winning rounds. It was still B-Hop's defense that had to be overcome in order to win. He didn't solve the puzzle, but he put enough pieces together to come out the victor.
Thats just it, Calzaghe won rounds largely based on output. Hops didnt throw enough to win the rounds. When he did open up he did well, he made the mistake that the judges would reward him for the more solid shots, something that he has done before in the Taylor fights. I think Calzaghe would have just as hard of a time landing on PBF and when you consider a young PBF and one who can match Joe for speed, then I can see him landing the better counters and winning. Calzaghe isnt that hard to hit, if PBF lets go with some combos he could really make an impression.
Just think, the compubox dude is hitting the ticker on everyone one of those swings. Joe landed 232 punches on Bhopm bull****. :rofl
Quality take on it. I'd love to have seen this actually happen because both are versatile, yet have mastered their own individual styles. It'd be won above the shoulders and both are experts at ad******g. There's more similarities there than it appears to be on the surface between the two- both are always in stellar condition, have great chins/recuperative powers, and hand issues have robbed each of their full punching power. I think some are selling Calzaghe's pure skills here a little short on this thread. He's not a one-dimensional sloppy swarmer as he's made out to be, but can box and has a hell of a jab when he fights that way- and a solid jab is something that can score on Mayweather. I'm going to cop out and say it'd end a draw. It's too much of a toss up for me to pick between two guys who adjust like they do yet have never fought any opponent like the other.
:good right you are its annoying how people take compubox as gold but never realise its just a few people keeping tally so they are just as prone to human error as the judges.
