Mayweather vs Forrest at 154: Forrest wins.

If he makes it a chess match, he'll get beat.

How is Floyd going to overcome Forrest's reach and size, especially considering he's naturally a defensive counterpuncher, just like Floyd.

Not only that, but Vernon is fast. So, you really think Floyd will be able to beat Forrest by counterpunching?

Vernon will just press Floyd, using his size, and force Floyd to throw just to gain his respect; however, Vernon will be anticipating this and block the majority of shots that Floyd throws.

You're not talking about Margarito here who is face foward and throws a volume of punches and is there to be counterpunched.

You're talking about a guy who is a defensive counterpuncher with size. How is Floyd even going to touch him by counterpunching? Think about how the disparity in size and how Forrest is going to use that against Floyd.

By the time Floyd gets to Forrest, Forrest who is already in position will block his punch. Unless Floyd throws in combination and becomes an inside out aggressor, he'll eventually get cornered agianst the ropes where Forrest will go to work.

Yeah man. Mosley was fighting Vernon like a counterpuncher and not taking enough risks. To beat a guy like Forrest who had an obvious size advantage and a similiar skill level, Mosley needed to turn it into a fight.

I think Forrest lost a step slightly, and Mosley is at the point in his career where he won't hesitate to be aggressive and he realizes that he might have to take a punch to give a punch, but it's the only way.

Mosley has the speed advantage, he's just gotta get inside and throw those combinations. He was the aggressor against Margarito when most people thought it would be crazy to bring it to him.

I just think Mosley can pull it off at this point in his career.

 

But yeah, Mayweather can't.

He hasn't shown me that he's willing to take those kinds of risks and I don't think he can counterpunch him. ****, it didn't work for shane at ALL, and Shane looked damn near UNBEATABLE at that point in his career.

But how will PBF land effectively when both fighters are unwilling to engage? Wouldn't Forrest have the advantage based on size, defense, and especially reach?

He could tag PBF with jabs, even if they are completely ineffective and mostly blocked, and not have to worry about much retaliation. I don't think Mayweather would bring the fight to Forrest, but Forrest will still use his size to crowd Mayweather and push him against the ropes even without throwing very often.

I think Mayweather will find this to be incredibly frusterating because everytime he throws a jab, it's blocked, and whenever he wants to counterpunch, Forrest is already back in position to dodge it or block it.

And because of Forrest's size, he'll have the advantage if the fight goes to the ropes, and he has the technical ability to pull it off, unlike maybe Margarito for instance.

Either way, it could be a very boring fight with a questionable decision OR if Vernon presses the fight, he'll get hit occasionaly, but he could virtually win every round because I don't see how Floyd can block all of his shots, especially when against the ropes. Because you have to understand that Floyd won't be at his best weight either, so it should effect his mobility.

Also, considering Floyd hasn't thrown very many combinations at 147 nor at 154, I'm not sure he would do enough to steal the rounds.

I see Forrest winning this fight even at this point in his career.
