Frank Warren said this was the greatest performance by a fighter in a boxing ring ever shortly after Floyd destroyed Gatti, was he right, and why did Floyd beat Gatti so easily?

Gatti was old and punch drunk! He didn't workout like before and fights with Ward finished him!
Late 90s Gatti who was in top shape and was healthy would gave Mayweather similar fight as August!Mayweather would win by UD!

Given the lack of quality of opponent, it's a joke to consider it the best performance in history.

I would sure as Hell HOPE that an all time great like Floyd would give a 2nd rate punching bag like Gatti a beating. Hardly the best performance ever. And Floyd was the overwhelming favorite going in, so it's not like it was surprising.

Floyd's destruction of Corrales was far more impressive given that the boxing public considered that a 50-50 fight going in.
