Hatton has talked for some time about maintaining a brutal pace for 12 full rounds. But his stamina has been in question by some observers for some time now, with speculation that his lifestyle and eating habits may have caught up with him. How do you see Hatton late in the fight?
To me, Hatton really hasn't fought for a full three minutes in his last few fights. Against Castillo, he looked good in short spurts, then he would simply resort holding and hitting on the break. If he's able to grapple in this fight, he should be fine down the stretch. However, if he is unable to continously grapple with Floyd, he'll get beat up, he'll miss on alot of his punches, and he won't have much left in the later rounds.
Hatton goes on and on about this but he was the guy hanging on like an octopus in most of his recent fights. He was alright doing it against tomato cans but even C level fighters like Urango and Collazo had him hanging on. He's gonna bet battered on Saturday.
Just to be fair, I think Hatton has probably trained harder for this fight than he did for say, Collazo or Urango. I don't think his wind will be a problem. Floyds skill and speed will be Hattons problem late.
Urango he had a cold fight week Fact. Collazo bulked up wrong for the fight Fact. This fight u will the full three minutes ala against KT. Also Faquina can't u make your hate for hatton a bit more ambigious what as he ever done to u.
This is a very good question, because eventually it WILL catch up to Hatton. Noone can sustain a career putting their body through 40 pound weight swings between fights. So far Ricky's youth has been serving him well. Everybody including Hatton realizes he has zero chance of winning this fight by outboxing Floyd. He has to brawl, and take him deep into the fight, but Floyd is very good at shutting down opponents in the inside, way better than Kostya Tsyzu ever was, so if he thinks this is going to be a similar type fight, hes sadly mistaken. Hatton has to be able to take some serious fire and be able to brawl for 12 rounds straight. If he can do that, he just may be able to break Floyds will. I believe Hatton has way more desire to win than Floyd, and if Hatton can drag him into a fire fight, he has a chance. That being said, Floyd is a lot better than he was when he faced Castillo, so Hatton will have his work cut out for him.
If he makes it, i see Hatton being out on his feet for the last 4 rouds, his emotions will get to him, i know you can say 'he has a plan', but he will genuinely give it his all from the off, so he wont have it in the tank in the last few. Hatton will have to KO PBF to beat him, i cant see his punch and hold tactics winning him 7 rounds out of 12, PBF is too slick, fast to let that happen It will also be down to how PBF adapts, if he cops on the Hatton early and starts landing them sharp clean punches in combinations then it will be a great night for PBF.
This fight could end up like Corrales Mayweather. Floyd eats up fighters that come forward wide open. Hatton may never have the chance to brawl, because Floyd will look to shut him down with straight power punches, as he comes forward.
