Who has Floyd fought that is similar to JMM and fights at the level that JMM does? Nowhere near as easy a victory some of you are making it out to seem.
No, but everything that JMM does, Floyd does better. Not to mention he has better handspeed, footspeed, defense and a better chin.
Roy Jones was the best fighter of his generation but is Roy Jones is the best fighter Calzaghe faced? And also, Genaro Hernandez was not on JMM's level. really not even close.
Corrales and Castillo have better resumes then Marquez. And I wouldnt favor Marquez against either of them.
Floyd doesn't fight opponents of a high quality as consistent as JMM does. Fights like Gatti and Baldomir were already forgone conclusions. Anyone who says otherwise either doesn't know Gatti and Baldomir or are just trying to be difficult. His fight with Sharmba Mitchell shouldn't even had been made. Mitchell sounded more punchy than I had ever heard him before in his career in the build up to that fight. After what KT did to Mitchell, his handlers should have known not to put him in there with Floyd. Mitchell was a shell of his former self. Phillip N'dou? One opponent that PBF fans love to pull out is him. Very high KO ratio. But that's it. Not so much a "Who's Who" but a "Who the hell are THESE guys" list of opponents that N'dou had beaten. Stylistically? A complete mismatch. Manfredy? Floyd was the 1st big name he fought. Then he consistently lost to practically ever other 'step up' he faced. Sure, there a decent wins that Floyd has. But how many on that list stand out like the opponents JMM fought?
You're going to seriously say that you wouldn't favor JMM in a bout with Corrales? Corrales had a nice showing against Freitas, a classic with Castillo, and a win over Casamayor.... But who on his resume is the big head turner, aside from these guys (and truth be told... Freitas shouldn't be one of them even with a win over him). Corrales lost more big fights than he won. His resume and his record is not more impressive than JMMs.
Not two seperate... since one is necessary for the other to occur. But aside from that, what's your point?
Dude, JMM's resume is not that amazing either. While I will give you the point that I would favor him over Corrales, I would not favor him over Castillo.
I don't really know how that one would turn out. I don't consider myself a JMM apologist... I just think that on this thread his abilities have been well undermined.
Yes, this thread has been done before. I agree with what most people picked last time. Floyd by close UD. Is the key is in how Marquez would fare against the same opponents, and the results would be almost the same.
uhh you do realize that PRIME Casamayor, Freitas and Castillo are pretty much better then anyone that Marquez has ever beaten right? He beat what many consider faded versions of Barrera and Casa. Other then admittedly excellent showcases against Pac he has beaten anyone of note. I mean Derrick Gainer was already Chico's leftovers in 2000. So has Marquez. Whats your point? Corrales went 1-2 against Casa. 1-0 against Frietas. And 1-1 against Castillo. the lost to Casa in the first fight was just a bad break. Anyways how do you see Marquez handling Chico's power at 130? He gets macho and tries to engage like he did against Pac could spell trouble. He'd most certainly lose to a Castillo at 135 in my opinion.
