I think we all saw a different side of floyd the other night on how he would fight under the kind of pressure that a fight with prime leonard would bring. Who would have won? I'd have a hard time picking a sure winner in this fight. They can match each others speed, leonard has the edge in height and power but id give mayweather the edge in boxing skills/better adapting skills. I slightly favor leonard overall but I wouldn't count mayweather out
Leonard. Quicker, stronger, more powerful and with better combinations. He'd grind out a very tough ud. Normally hate smack talking but I'd make an exception for this one.
How would combinations help when it's hard to land one on Mayweather, let alone three or four? It would be a pot shotting contest.
this is a all time matchup- great great fight. i know floyd is nowhere near like his father- but leonard cracked the shoulder roll against senior. against floyd- who is more compact, more powerful and faster and smarter than his dad- i think leonard can apply a similar tact- but use the jab more. what nobody does against floyd is go to the body- against the shoulder roll everyone jabs and sends the right which floyd is a natural at defending. the combination leonard would throw is a jab to feint, step to the right to avoid the counter right, a right hook to the body and hten a left hook to the head. you can see him do this over and over against senior. i think he d do a similar thing against floyd. in the end though- floyd is a special fighter and might make adjustments- and attack more- but hten so would leonard. its close- but i think leonard has more advantages than floyd does in almost every department other than defence. the thing today is- there arent any tall welters to challenge floyd , other than williams. and a tall lanky guy with a powerful jab is i think what is the antidote to floyds movement. you get a tall guy who can jab jab- keep floyd at bay, then lean back from counters and send a right of his own- and you can dictate the fight against floyd, make floyd attack and step into your tempo. thats why guys like forrest, winky, leonard , prime oscar, hearns, etc would have all been able to beat floyd imho.
when a guy is as fast and nimble as a pacquiao and floyd is- the way to neutralise it is with length and a jab. its why roy could beat everyone except for tarver, why hearns was leonards biggest mismatch, why floyd had trouble with castilo in part 1 and why tyson couldnt get in on lewis. if you have a really really good jab- and its long and youre tall- you can beat speed. my thing is- styles make fights the basic basic trend ive noticed in boxing (with all other things being relatively equal or close ) is like rock scissors paper and its a bit like this: Speed > power > length and height > speed > etc. leonard > hagler > hearns > leonard yeah i know its flawed- and there are a million examples to counter it- but just a way of looking at it.
