Lets say 1 million PPV's at $75 a pop thats $75 million you get half of that for the network you have roughly 37 million you deduct 32 million for Floyd's guaranteed Maidana's 3 million and the undercards plus all promotional expenses then you're left with basically nothing. Then you say "what about the live gate revenues?". Even with the additional revenues you are making nothing so how is that GOOD? Espinoza will be fired Ellerbe was already fired there will be more people fired because of this sh|tty fight :lol::lol:

There's no way Showtime made a six-fight contract with Floyd averaging over 32 mil per fight with the expectation he would draw under a million PPV buys 3 out of 4 times out.

promotion/production expenses like commercials and all access.

i think somewhere, someone put a figure on it as around 10m.

    so, 32m+3m+10m+ undercards.

that's where the ~1.5m ppv buys to breakeven comes in.

im not sure corpsejr gets the gate revenue, maybe a portion.

is the promoter paying the host/venue and recoup via the gate?

or the gate goes to the host/venue with portions go to the promoter?

also, another factor to consider: choketime moved the timeslot earlier, wiping out the potential revenue in that time slot in whatever sched programming.

i think that's why they raised the ppv price to counter some of those losses.

Why are so many people hung up on PPV numbers? Does it make a fighter less of a fighter if he oes less than a million buys?

Maidana was obviously a challenging fight given the closeness of the first fight. That he did nearly a million buys against such "terrible" opposition is just testement to his ability to draw. And dont get me wrong, i hate floyd as much as the guy but he's fought plenty of challenges.

says more about corpsejr's ability than madona.

madona is a rios-level, whose claim to fame was beating boner, whose claim to fame was releasing a ***tape.

again, when youre expected 1.5m to break even, nearly 1m isnt good enough.

and 925k may not even be accurate. too early to tell.

when has anyone ever released ppv figures 3-4 days after the fight?

Considering Maidana lost the first one and the rest of us knew Floyd would coast his way to an easy decision by boxing, that number is better than expected. Floyd is the undisputed PPV KING. FACT!

    on whose expectations? you?

corpsejr is expected by choketime to do ~1.5buys to breakeven.

they even moved the timeslot earlier, wiping their revenue in that sked programming, which is why i think they raised the price to counter some of the losses.

    another fight, another choketime loss.
