First off I watched the fight 2X. I scored fight 8 to 4, Floyd. Though I could see 7 to 5 for Floyd. I don't agree with a draw. It was a tough fight early on ... I had it 3 a piece after 6 tough rds. Then I had Floyd winning 5 of the last 6, with rds. 9 & 10 kind of dominate. Anyway, I feel once people watch it again, without the emotion of the live event, they will notice how Floyds strength and most importantly bodywork, shut Maidana's whole strategy down. Another thing I noticed during 2nd half of the fight, Floyd did something he usually never doea, went southpaw for a few seconds. At first watch, I thought he hurt his hand (and maybe he did) , but then he did it again for about 15 seconds in the next round. I think he baited Maidana's corner, knowing Garcia would probably tell Chino in between rds that Floyds hand was hurt. So when he did it again, Maidana was about to rush in and got clipped, then Floyd went back convential. In the psychological warfare of boxing, this subtle move was really too much for Maidana. Then the 9th & 10th rd. is where Floyd took total control (though he won the previous 2 IMO) and had the 2 most dominating rds. In the fight. His stock actually went up too me in this fight. His mental toughness is unparalleled (exeption, Hopkins & Ward). This was a classic fight, in which May weather proved that his mind is what makes him TBE or at least the best of this generation. Great fight!
Maybe you should actually watch it without being biased. Thanks. Most of the world (+ Many people who know boxing) had it a Floyd win. Easy.. 8-4..
God that's not even possible. Bias is a *****. I bet you think Liston threw the 2nd Ali fight! LOL.... hahahaha!!! Marcos's biggest weapon were the power shots to the groin and was never penalized. This is truly disturbing if this is a real sport. not even in MMA could this happen. Marcos consistently low blowed him the whole fight because this was the only chance he had to do any damage. And, Tony Weeks allowed it. That was crazy.
5-5 all after 10, last 2 were close Maidana won 4 out 5, then round 8 last 2 were close so it is possible, not probable but possible. Whats the liston fight got to do with this
As some of you know I am a huge critic of Floyd (and watched the fight twice) and I scored the fight 7-5 for Floyd, with the fight being at 3-3 after the 6th. I can see this fight being scored fairly at 8-4 or 7-5 but I would really have to overlook some things and give rounds to Maidana in order to make the fight be a draw..a draw would be a stretch, a win for Maidana would be improper scoring.
I am a big fan of floyd, but I really didn't like his performance, but even then the best i could do for maidana is floyd winning 7-5. When i scored it the 2nd time i had it 8-4 for floyd.
I'm a fan of his too, a critical fan but I support him and have been watching him since he was PBF of Friday Night Fights. The way I see it is like they say "styles make fights" and the way Maidana fought Floyd is actually the best way/style to fight him IMO. Everyone who has put on the best performances versus him has just went in the ring smothered him and poured it on as hard as they could for as long as they could - Castillo, DLH and Maidana. Personally I think Canelo should have fought him that way too. "Educated" brawling with Floyd is how to look the best against him and do the most damage...if Maidana would have had a better jab this fight would have been closer. I think Floyd will look better against Khan than he did against Maidana. Also, I think Manny does have a better shot to win than I once thought...they both have slowed down but I think Manny's offense could give Floyd some trouble IF Maidana's gave him that much.
Floyd won 8-4 that's good enough for a moral victory for Maidana. But then u have to ask if Floyd is so overrated like the Tards on this forum claim, why are they so excited about Maidana winning 4 rounds?
