Floyd will never fight Margarito period ... and that makes him a chicken
regardless of the fact Margo would not stand too much chances in a real fight.

Any fight Floyd hasn't taken he's favourite in and you can easily make credible evidence for him being able to win the fight, but he doesn't take it anyway, that's what pisses people off.

We all knew he could beat Sugar Shane, but he was a bit of a risk and it didn't happen when it should've. He can beat Pacquiao, Cotto in his day, Margarito, but he refused to fight them, it's not an issue of "would Margo win". And as you say, this is boxing, but Mayweather doesn't seem open to fighting guys who can show what boxing really can be like and suffer a knockout from a high pressure power guy. The odds are slim, but Mayweather doesn't want to play them even if they are. That's a fact.

 

Floyd is the fighter who hates being hit or punch.

After the Castillo fight, he changed from fighter who is there to inflict punishment to a fighter who avoids punishment at all cost even if the fight turns to a boring one.

He will win against Margarito but it won't be pretty. And that is the reason why he became choosy with who he fights.

"Boxing will not retire me" tells you something.

 

exactly, his 100% win rate against not so stellar opposition (relative to the ranking he gets) makes people think he would win all these fantasy matchups.

he's a very good fighter, but he's still way overrated because of the hype behind his 0.

People are blinded by that 0 and by his style of fighting.

 

Margarito is what he is, at his peak, he would have given Floyd a very tough night because he was relentless and had a chin of steel.

Floyd is shrewd enough to stay away from fighters in their peak, ie - Pacman, Cotto, Margarito, Mosley, Williams etc etc

 

It answers the question why Gayweather will never fight Maragrito or Pac.
