this is pretty big. allot of people in the states were saying Mayweather could not draw without an opponent.

there saying it could be as high as 1.6mil. if thats the case Manny vs Cotto would have to break the ppv record in the states to put Manny and Mayweather equal in ppv buys for there last 6 fights.

So PBF was right in saying he is the PPV king then- let the hating commence. If this is true I am immensely happy as there was an MMA event the same night that was apparently going to spoil the party. Glad to see boxing still doing well in spite of the 'boxing is dying' brigade.

1 to 1.6 million would officially put Floyd as a boxing superstar all on his own. His last two PPV's are argued by haters to be a result of DLH and Hatton.

I'd love to see it do those numbers. It would be good for boxing.

Beat me to it, I know people say that Floyd can't draw unless he has a high-profile opponent but Hatton surely was never high-profile in the States?

Mayweather is huge in states and is now blowing up worldwide.. Let's remember he boxed a mexican legend on Saturday night and that means the hispanics would have bought into it too!! I

remember Mayweather saying in an interview that black fighters Vs mexicans always draws huge PPV numbers.. Im not surprised by the numbers at all.. Mayweather is gonna become a phenom if he keeps fighting and stays unbeaten..:good

he is the tiger woods/roger federer of boxing so the casual fan are now into him.

also his ppv figure are almost double Manny pacquiaos meaning the fight will be easiar to make as Arum has less levredge.

Not surprised by the big numbers. Glad to know boxing can still do big business. Mayweather is the greatest boxer active and will hopefully go onto have more huge fights.

I would be very surprised if it did those numbers...with a pretty unfancied opponent.

It was expected to do 500,000 buy range (estimated to be on a similar level to the UFC card). I have no idea what either actually posted.

Floyd couldnt draw **** until DLH put him on the map...he should remember that and be forever grateful to the golden boy.

marquez has a bigger profile and following in the US then Hatton when he fought Floyd and if that did close to a million without that mexican side to it then i wouldn't be surprised if this did a million or above.

a part of me was hoping all PPV's bombed, because then promoters and HBO are forced into putting together a better product, but i guess its good for boxing first to beat that junk over on the darkside and secondly we need cross over stars especially when they're skillful and sweet practitioners of the sweet science and mayweather is getting close to doing it.

Kevin Iole from Yahoo.com. Originally he said the numbers were in the neighborhood of one million.

    ----------------
"The UFC is a privately owned company and does not have to release its pay-per-view sales, which it chooses not to do. Occasionally, we’re able to find out what a particular fight sold, but it’s not often. From what I’m hearing, though, the Mayweather fight had a convincing victory. I’m hearing the Mayweather-Marquez pay-per-view is going to come in at or near 1 million sales. I don’t have a verifiable figure for the UFC, but I believe it will be far lower than 1 million. The boxing number should be released by Thursday at the latest and perhaps on Wednesday."

    ----------------

He later updated his Twitter saying the numbers definitely reached a million and could even be be as high as 1.6 million.
