Actually, the more I think about this fight, the more I like it for JMM. Not saying he'll win...but Floyd does best when he has an opponent who plods forward and lets Floyd fight going backwards. Oddly enough, I don't really think Floyd does his best work in the center of the ring.

I think of the Zab Judah fight, where Floyd had issues with both the speed and slicker style of Judah in the beginning. JMM is not slick, but he can be a very hard target to find at times...and he has one of the best offensive arsenals in the game...he is a guy who finds you with his punches whether you think you're safe or not. A real marksman if there ever was one.

I don't think JMM will win this but it may be a LOT more competitive than we think. Floyd may also quickly learn than you don't come back from a long layoff against someone as sharp as JMM. He is NOBODY's tuneup.

He called him out knowing that he's a 147lb fighter and KNOWING that Floyd refused to move down for Hatton, what makes Marquez any better?

If Marquez truly wants it and was serious when he called Mayweather out then he should know this already. He called out a 147lb fighter, if he really wants it then move up there or just shut your mouth.

Pac moved up two weight divisions for DLH and it was DLH the one calling him out. Marquez calls people out and fails to agree on the obvious requirements, looks like he's seeking recognition more than an actual fight.

Regarding him being looked at as a tune-up, in reality that's what Mayweather's team spoke about his next fight when they mentioned he's planning to return and they didn't really know Marquez will be the choice. By picking up think they make it clear that they do take him as a tune-up though very seriously. Don't think he will take him lightly IN the ring.

If Mayweather looks good in his next fight then he's 100% ready for Pac, all depends on his next fight and by taking a fight before Pacquiao he shows he's dead serious. Of course Pac has to look good in his next fight, if he does and wins then he beat two fighters Mayweather beat as well but in better fashion, the DLH fashion is obviously better and the Hatton fight is coming up.

I still see it as a 50/50 fight and we haven't seen Mayweather fight yet, Pacquiao is just too good for me to pick anyone over him at this stage.

    hmm says...
previous posts were right....It's just a TUNE UP but I feel people want JMM to have a competitve fighting chance to make the fight more squared ....Then PBF should tackle bigger fish... We just learned last night from Winky and Paul that a long absence can be taxing especially coming back against a freak talent... so realistically, cherrypicking, or whatever you want to call it....PBF needs to be rash instead of jumping head over heals after big fish. I don't want him avoiding any top contender, but like what Bladerunner and some have said.... JMM will most likely lose either weight. I see PBF carefully placing his shots on JMM's chin, and we all know how he fares there. Next fight should be any welters or Pac.

    if he comes back

If not 147 then 144 nothing lower. Jmm called floyd out, he knew he'd have to come up in weight if he really wants the fight.

How is he cherry picking? Jmm wants the fight, if Floyd turned him down then you'd be saying he's ducking JMM.

I didnt know the #2 (arguably #1) fighter in the world after a long layoff was able to be cherry picked.

if he fought Cotto or Mosley nobody would say he was ducking a guy fighting two divisions bellow him.

no matter how great Manuel may be, he's only had 2 fights at his highest weoghtclass (135), and don't make it seem like Floyd didn't just decide to take the path of least resistance yet again by waiting on the much smaller man in JMM, weather there are better fights now or not is irellevant, because he hand chose this time to come out of his "retirement"

So lets Keep it real, this match ain't for boxing fans or to improve his legacy, it's just to improve his bank account, and since I ain't on his payroll, this fight don't do nothing for me

I don't think that Marquez and his team really wants to fight, its a ploy to lure Pacquiao into a fight, I think Marquez should focus on the lightweight division or the junior welterweight division.

Its not a matter of weight ... Mayweather last campaigned as a welterweight and if he comes back, I can't see him going anywhere else. Marquez shouldn't have challenged Mayweather, if he didn't expect to fight above 140.

But there are bigger fish to fry in the lightweight and junior welterweight division(s)... Valero in particular !!
