The new date for this fight has just put this on a whole new plane. Scheduling it in the week of Mexcian Independence day has guaranteed that we get a career best Marquez. He is even more so determined now to do this for legacy of Mexican boxing.
So Floyd will be up against a tip top Marquez. Lest we forget we all know in reality he beat PAC... Twice in my eyes (although i'll settle for once for arguments sake).
Now lets be objective and agree that beating this Marquez is on a different page to beating a weight drained Oscar and a shot Hatton with no punch resistance left!
So if Floyd wins, and this by no means a certainty in my books, he surely takes the P4P crown right?

Even though I feel Floyd is the best p4p fighter in the world, even with a win over JMM he still doesn't have the resume to be givin the title over Pac.

The guy is moving up in weight from lightweight to welterweight. Beating him will only show that he was too small for a natural welterweight. You said that it's better than beating a weight drained fighter, then it's all the same thing. Different situations but relatively the same. Hatton was shot before fighting Pacquiao? It was convincingly decided that Hatton was still the best at 140 lbs before he fought Pacquiao. According to a lot of folks here, Hatton is unbeatable at 140. So I guess when he was beat by Pacquiao he became washed up over night. Kind of like the same thing whenever Pacquiao beats his opponents. They are all in their prime before the fight and after the fight, they become washed up.

This is only career defining if Marquez wins.

Yeah. Floyd won't gain anything from this fight. This is suppose to be only a tune up fight. Nothing more.

Can't believe Floyd is persisting with this farce.

How much respect did PBF lose by taking this fight? What a joke.

Read the article better mate. Its not based on a n arbitrary date but on the significance of the date on the psyche of Marquez!

~Ok heres my theory JUST A THEORY

    > floyd fights marquez september and wins, pacman fighter cotto november. Winner vs winner will be perfect for march/april ish. Huge amonts of money made without taking any dumb risks

    > now floyd fights marquez july and wins, pac fights cotto november and winner is asked to fight floyd. mean while floyd will be criticised for taking another long break without fighting anyone until march.

He may feel forced to fight someone like mosley or clottey for the time being while waiting for march mega fight. but that is high risk and slightly lower reward aginst mosley

I'm of the firm believe that Shane would stop Floyd. Given the choice, I'd rather see Floyd fight Shane than Pac.

I now there is a little possibility that jmm beat but you guys act like floyd already beat jmm, in fact i think rescheduling this fight for september increase the odds for jmm, more time to gain muscle and adapt to the new weight, still i dont see jmm beating floyd but i will root for him...

LETS GO JMM SHOCK THE WORLD !!!

If he does which i dont think ... he would go up #1 p4p with ease...
