Man, I'd be all over this ****, but none of our local theaters are carrying it.

It's funny because about a year or so back me and friend were talking about how crazy it would be to watch fights in theaters. Now it's a ****ing reality and we don't have access to it.

Apparently the closest theater to me which is gonna carry the fight is in Phoenix which can be quite a drive, but I'm still considering going. Maybe I'll take a homie with me or my younger brother. It should be one hell of a good time. It's a $15 affair, but I'll probably make up for the rest of the $50 PPV in gas money. :-(

Oh well, they're a lot of hot women in Phoenix on a Saturday night so if I get laid that night I won't be complaining. :yep

No **** Sherlock. Thanks for the repeat echo boy. Is boxing on TV? No. Their on HBO and Showtime. Two cable channels that isn't in many households because their expensive.

It never happened because Boxing was cashing in on PPVs. Thats not the case anymore. UFC is dominating PPVs now.

Its not stupid when boxing continues to get owned in PPVs by UFC. It will be even funnier when they go out of business or just be a fad sport like "Hockey" or "Bowling". If this keeps up.

150 movie theatres across the entire united states is an astronomically small amount. movie theatres do research? really?:rofl what? movie theatres have statisticians? im not following you bud.

I might not know as much as you CLAIM to know, but I do know that boxing isnt a big enough enterprise these days to make it financially feasible to stage fights that aren't blockbusters at movie theatres. that was my original point. it is a calculated risk as you said, and the risk has proven either unlucrative or simply illogical because you dont see it at all these days on a large scale. this is a new day and age, no one is buying the gimmick of going to the movies to watch a big time fight. only huge fans like ourselves would go and that is a small number in the broad moneymaking scheme. this idea wouldnt prove fruitful enough to promote the idea large scale, and to tell you the dead honest truth, the idea itself sucks

No HBO and Showtime aren't TV channels, their cable provided channels that people pay big money for. Which would explain why they aren't in many households. I'm talking about local channels moron.

Plus who watches these channels? Oh yeah, adults do. Not teenagers, not young kids. All old people who only know boxing from its hayday.

If they continue to get their ass kicked by UFC in PPVs and popularity, yeah they will go out of business. Other than Pacquiao and De La Hoya fights boxing can't go anywhere near the numbers UFC currently draws. Its not even funny how far apart they are.

 

Like I said in a different thread there are going to be all sorts of brawls at these shits. :rofl I guess Golden Boy isn't aware of the ongoing race war between Mexicans and Blacks in the South West. I almost saw a melee at the AMC theater on Friday just because a crowd of youngstas were geeked up on the ****ing poster actually being up in the lobby. :yep

 

They figured if they can't sell the $300 tickets they might as well try to get 20 people to wacth it in the theater for $15 each.

It's the best bargain in town, buy 1 get 19 for free, only for $300.

 

I would definitely go. I am going to be out of town that weekend and am trying to find out where I can watch the fight.

 

I'll live the dream for ya lol. I feel the same way .. I just think it would be awesome to see a fight on the big screen, and not have to pay $49.95, that much better.
