Darryl, I love everything about your post but this sentence is a little less flattering than the rest. I'll agree it was a joke in a sense that Floyd came in overweight. But picking JMM was a great selection for a tune up fight. After a 2 yr layoff ANY fighter is entitled to get in the ring with a tomato can to get the ball rolling. Mayweather only picked one of the greatest technicians in the game. Even as small as JMM is, you'd think he'd still win at least 2 or 3 rds considering he's such a skilled boxer. But it was a complete shut out. Sure, one can say JMM was bloated and it was only his first time at welterweight. Then you also have to realize Floyd hadn't fought in 2 yrs whereas JMM had been fighting world class fighters. I mean imagine Manny came off a long layoff and fought Gamboa at a catchweight. I don't know you but I sure as hell wouldn't complain. Sometimes we should take it for what it is and not be so caught up on what we wish for.

Mayweather vs Marquez was a statement to Pac just like Pac vs De la Hoyle was a statement to Floyd. Pac wanted Mayweather as well as fans to see how much better he could handle Oscar compare to Floyd. This was the same reason why Floyd fought Marquez. Now Floyd gets criticized for making Marquez come to him, but Pac does not get criticized for making Oscar come to him. When Pac fought Marquez Marquez and Pac were in the same weight class, both men comfortable and well conditioned. This could be the reason why Pac had so much problems with him vs Mayweather. When Floyd fought De la Hoyle, he moved up fighting De la Hoyle on his terms, which gave Oscar more of the advantage. This was the reason why Floyd had a harder time with him then Pac did. Although when both rivals met there mutual opponents, (De la Hoyle and Marquez) nether fighter fought there opponent at there fighting weight class, but only Floyd gets criticized for not doing so. Why is that?
