To those still confused thinking this will be at 147, 143, 145, 140, 166, 174. Goldenboy just confirmed once again that it's signed to be at 143-144, the only reason it's promoted and advertised as a Welterweight fight is because anything that goes above 140 is automatically considered Welterweight by the public. They didn't care much to RE-ANNOUNCE that till JMM also showed confusion by calling them to reconfirm. Obviously can't post a link to what site is confirming this, a quick search should give you the link you need since the news is fresh. :good
It's considered welterweight by the public but officially and to people that understand the sport well enough it's not. A good example is how Cotto's welterweight title WON'T be on the line if he fights Pacquiao at 145, 144 or 143. :good
One question here, if a boxer weigh in at 138 for a welterweight (147) fight, will he be allowed by boxing commission to fight? (he could be considered underweight for a welterweight fight since welterweight is anything from above 140 up to the limit of 147)... .
i fell like i should know this, but does that mean that a bout with manny and cotto at 145, 144, or 143 would be considered jr welter, or just a catchweight fight with no titles on the line?
According to them the fight was signed at 143-144, nothing more and nothing less. Usually the max number is used.
Ok thanks for clearing that up . . . so it's 144. I'm one of those still confused . . . some dumbass posted that it's gonna be at 138 last week. And it really created confussion.
Yes and mentioned numerous times, I wasn't confused but there seemed to be a lot confused about it with many different rumors being all over boxing sites about it being at 147, 145..etc
sorry man one more, so if manny and cotto sign the fight at 147 and cotto weighs in at 147 and manny weighs in at 144 cotto's title would still be on the line right? and if so what is the range that manny could potentially go down to? just anything above 140?
