One fighter comes forward, the other steps back. One uses the shoulder roll, the other is orthodox. Morales big punch, the straight right. Floyd's is the check hook. One has a cast iron chin and is a relentless offensive fighter, the other is a defensive cutie susceptible to getting wobbled. They're totally and completely different, EVERY fighter in the universe tries to counter off the ropes.
I did at the time, but after seeing what Mosley had left after Margocheato I just think Floyd and his team saw something I didn't.
Fair enough, although I don't know if it's quite fair to retroactively downgrade a victory against a guy who was perceived as a big threat. Beyond that, Floyd overcame adversity in that fight, and that in itself really showed me something when he revealed that new dimension to his game he had apparently been hoarding previously. I thought he was taking a bigger risk facing Mosley when he did than beating Cotto more recently. I also thought he showed more against Shane given the second round scare.
I would expect Floyd to do the right thing when hurt. It's not his first time at THAT particular rodeo (Demarcus Corley), and whatever else you might want to say about Floyd, ****er knows what he's doing in that ring and he can survive damn near anything. As far as retroactively downgrading, it's not something I do a LOT, but come on man... a draw with Sergio Mora in his very next fight? It's tough to ignore that.
Well, I can't change how I felt. I was thoroughly impressed. Mosley shook him pretty good twice in that round. I always thought Floyd would show signs of mentally folding in that situation, and I could not have been more wrong! Quite the contrary, Floyd not only persevered, he actually came back during the same round he was twice staggered in. Then he dominated every second of every round thereafter. I understand that looking back, the perception on Mosley may have been off. But even still, Floyd was coming off of a win over a pudgy Marquez. The Shane fight was a genuine threat, and to me, he passed with flying colors. All of that said, back to this thread, having a hypothetical matchup between Floyd and El Terrible is inherently tough business. Their optimal divisions are too far apart to make a proper gauge.
Floyd will be broke too. Following the pattern of fighters from his region. Is it a concidence Lennox Lewis is worth 165 million dollars STILL but Bowe-Holyfield-Mercer-Roy Jones-Toney- and just about every star boxer from that region is sucking dick for 20 bucks? Tyson was doing the same until he discovered he can trick people into thinking he's an actor. I like it how you have to resort to personal attacks of other posters and have to talk about a 'broke Morales' because your sense of insecurity regarding your virginity in real life and your total lack of boxing knowledge was too much for your fragile mandible to handle
Floyd had a full arsenal below 147. If he wanted to be aggressive, he could. If he wanted to play defense and counter and just out-box you, he could. Jab to any target area, Straight-right, Uppercut, body-shots...he had it all. Morales isn't getting him. Floyd would out-box him.
Erik Morales does not have these `?????????` hanging over him..... that will always be the game, set & match point for Tijuana`s finest when up against someone like fmj. It really is that simple !
