In that 2nd round Floyd was "almost knocked out" as Pac fans will put it, but really what happens is that Floyd gets hit by clean lefts and rights from Mosley that round, and Mosley's got power, no matter what you believe about what happened pre-fight Margo vs Mosley, he still KO'ed Margarito, he's got that kind KO power. So based on this I think Floyd's chin is very solid at 147 still, and if he steps into the ring again against Martinez or Pac around 147 - 154 he will be able to take their punches to some extent, unless Martinez throws the invisible punch like he did against PW, but he probably won't as he won't be fighting a reckless guy, but a clever counterpuncher. thoughs?
He is an Iron Chinned Warrior, as is shown in this terrific movie masterpiece by ESB ChinChecker Productions: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vNqF6P3pzO4[/ame]
he has proven by now he has a solid chin, but not granite....he can take a shot, but can't get away with using his beard as his D (and he doesn't need to)
He takes shots pretty well, but looks vulnerable when he receives shots to the temple that he can't prepare himself for
This content is protected Mosley baits Mayweather into countering and leaving himself open for Mosleys overhand right counter by feinting with a jab to the body. Mayweather was focused and committed to landing that counter left hook, so he didnt SEE and ROLL Mosleys counter overhand right. This content is protected
its hard to tell. floyd doesnt often get hit by hard punchers so i dont know if that was an indication that he will survive when he does get hit clean or that he will get hurt when he does get hit clean. im not ready to say his chin is glass or solid either way. i think pac, cotto and martinez could answer those questions.
Few can get away with a chin-defense. I just don't think the Mosley fight is evidence that proves Floyd is more knockoutable, more on the contrary that he can take a punch, rather than be floored or KO'ed.
Floyds' chin isn't bad. I think what is impressive about the wanker, is his ability to spoil the other guy. Grabbing arms, holding on etc, to just get time to clear his head. I've seen him do it a few times now - and he fought dirty as **** against Hatton, the ref let him get away with murder. That's not a putdown, that's a bit of compliment. floyd has some very underrated, and rarely mentioned "dirty" fighting skills.
What I noticed about Floyd when he gets tagged clean is he doesn't instinctively react like every other fighter who wants to "get back". He stays calm and finds a way to win the rest of the round.
Iron chined but iron cracks. Hey, even Mosley has been put on the canvas. Floyd has only tapped the canvas once with his left hand, i think. Btw iron cracks.
It's hard to believe that poll's from ESB general forum. Lots of people talk about how Floyd has a chance of getting KO'ed etc. like before he fought Mosley, but IMO he showed he's got a high punch-resistance, and good determination. BTW what do you think will happen if Martinez hits Floyd like that at 154
I think Floyd will take it fine. imo, Martinez doesn't hit as hard as Mosley. Martinez would be looking to do the str8 left + right hook combo if he was fighting Floyd similar to what he did against Paul. Floyd figures Martinez out.
Most definitely.. He appears to make intelligent decisions even while hurt. I liked how he back peddled to the ropes when his legs buckled, only to spring off seconds later with a nice left hook.
He still has to be very concious and be able to stay on his feet to clinch and hold. I don't think it was that bad against hatton, the way you put it it sounds like you thought he should be dq'ed. Anyhow Dirty tactics is not skills in my book, and holding is only okay if a guy is really hurt, not as a tactic, the ref should stop such "old school tricks".
