I find it incredible the way the general consensus on Mosley has shifted in less than a year, I remember not so long ago that the majority of this board was begging for this fight. It's a fight that features two of the most highly rated boxers in any division, has generated a genuine buzz throughout not only the boxing community but the general public and to top it off will most likely precede a monster of a fight against another of the biggest stars in the sport. If that doesn't qualify it as a super fight then I don't know what does.
b/c deep in their hate filled heart they know that floyd is gonna whip that ass no disrespect to sugar!
I'm glad you know whats best for the whole industry. Anyway to answer your question I don't think he will get much credit for his win as there are far to many haters that will fail to acknowledge anything Mayweather does. He is in a position similar to the Klitschko bros. The better he looks the more his level of competition is denigrated and his victories are dismissed. My opinion is that this fight is a mismatch but I still wouldn't miss it. It says something when a fighter of Shane's caliber is not considered a real threat by so many.
It's pathetic, Shane is a top welterweight, ppl scream for this fight then when it happens they start giving reasons why it shouldn't happen.
From me floyd will get all praise if he can beat mosley and no doubt should be the #1 pound4pound regardless of what pacquio did. This fight without a doubt should be recognized as a superfight 2 fighters in the top 5 or 10 p4p list going at it what else should this fight be called!
Obviously they're saying it now. But they're using it as an EXCUSE now which is where the idiocy lies. Nobody's sayin Shane (or Floyd) is at his peak or a youngster. But the fact is Shane is a great fighter, even forgetting the past, and until the contract was signed, was ducked by Floyd because he was an experienced vet with the power, skills and speed to defeat Floyd. But now he's just an old washed up has-been and this is a mismatch. What a difference 3 months makes.
This fight is a myth, a much slower Cotto beat a 35 year old Mosley and he isn't getting any younger. By Floyd's logic, he will be beating Cotto's left overs. Prime for prime this would have been and ATG fight but shane isn't close to what he used to be.
This is where the line between a cynic and an idiot lies. As someone said, Shane is currently the number 3 guy in the world to most and the No.1 WW (really). **** the past, Shane is NOW a great fighter even if he's not the same as he was before, it's still a great fight.
Any time there is promotion like this and it's 2 guys who will end up in the hall of fame, it's usually a super fight.
