When was the last time you thought Pac was going to lose?

I actually gave Ortiz three rounds. Peterson kicked his ass from the second round on. (Peterson is a good fighter, though)

    95-93 Peterson

I wouldn't dispute a draw or an Ortiz victory either, but to say there is no way a draw is feasible is ridiculous.

As a fan of Mayweather myself (strictly the fighter only), I honestly believe that this resembles the Pac-Margo fight in the sense that the vast difference in skills is so apparent that we all know the opposing fighter will only be able to win through a lucky punch and even if he does manage to slip a lucky one, we're still unsure if it will be enough (like what happened to Pac when his hands got caught on the ropes vs Margarito).

I think people are putting way too much credit on the "southpaw" thing and the "coming off a big win" thing.

And although I agree that this will be a better win than Pac's over Mosley and Clottey, I still think that minus the BS title, this will be almost on par with the Pac vs Margarito fight -- Pac/FMJ could've taken on a better challenge and they were both using the paper titles way too much to sell the fight.

I think coming off a big win is far better than coming off getting your ass beating by someone who you would beat had you had loaded wraps.

    Marg is a cheater.

And Ortiz would beat Margo currently.

Margarito NEVER won a ****ing title at 154. How can it be on par with a guy who beat the number 2/3 WW in the world. :patsch

    Come on man.

As I've said, MINUS THE BULLSH%T TITLE this is ALMOST on par with the Margarito fight because we all know that that was still a WW fight for Pac and he just gave Margarito all the advantages in weight.

I'm not saying they are taking on the same level of competition -- I'm saying the skillset difference is sooo f*cking huge that the outcome of the fight is as predictable as Pac-Margarito.
I'm not even sure if Ortiz will be able to have that gift round 6 of Margarito vs Pac.

Although Ortiz is the number 2 or 3 ranked WW in the world, the difference between him and the REAL ranked 1 and 2 boxers (FMJ and Pac) is soooo vast that it's pointless to argue with "Ortiz' ranking" as your premise.
Maybe one more difference between us is that I never bought the Berto hype job so I don't put much credence on Ortiz' win over him.
It was a good win no doubt, but a good win on a decent B fighter is not enough to buy you a ticket against the world's P4P number 1/2.

Furthermore, both fights will add nothing to their legacy -- only paper titles (Pac's JrMW title and Mayweather defeating the so-called "ranked 2 or 3 WW of the world").

If you still don't understand where I am coming from, then I guess we just have to agree to disagree.:good

It was at 151. not 147 not 154. It's stupid. Specially not vs a legit champion, a vacant title.

I dont think so. I think Mayweather wins but Ortiz was a beast his last fight and Mayweather better not under estimate.

Ortiz is best fight besides Pac. Pac nor Floyd as never going to fight Martinez or Williams.

Furthermore, both fights will add nothing to their legacy -- only paper titles (Pac's JrMW title and Mayweather defeating the so-called "ranked 2 or 3 WW of the world").

If you still don't understand where I am coming from, then I guess we just have to agree to disagree.:good[/quote]

I still think Mayweather vs Martinez is a more plausible fight than Pac vs Martinez and the whole world would forgive him of his previous "ducks" (a.k.a. "retirement") if he pushed for that one.
Again, I don't consider Ortiz as a "beast" if you will put him in the ring against someone as elite as FMJ.

And apparently you have a problem understanding the meaning of "minus the bullsh%t title".
Let me put it more plainly; "IF we don't consider that it was a title fight, just the same WW fight for Pac with the opponent (Margarito) being gifted with all the advantages in weight..."

I never said Ortiz would look beast vs Pac or Mayweather. I said he looked beast. Which he did. Ortiz is a far better match up than Pac's last 3 opponents.

"I think its a good fight you know, you can only take off so much time in between fights, but you know Mayweather is the best at what he does... but Ortiz got a big confidence boost in the last fight. So we'll see what happens."

More split than I would expect it to be... Mayweather is still in a class above Ortiz... I just don't think Ortiz has enough to beat him. That being said, it IS a good fight. I give Mayweather a lot of credit for taking it.

I feel like this fight will show how good Ortiz REALLY is; he doesn't have to win to improve his stock. A good showing against Mayweather could only help.

People forget the whole reasoning which is $. Floyd trying to make easy money without fighting a guy he believes is inhuman. He will fight Ortiz and Khan but not Pacquiao.
He said he doesn't care about legacy. that was foreshadowing his loss to Victor.
This is where Floyd enters the serious heavy duty risk area. Past his prime and for the first time touching em up with young talented prime fighters.

It's a recipe for disaster but people seem to believe Floyd is still in his prime. Just been way too long since he has been in there with a younger, conditioned strong true 147lb fighter and doing it out for so long. He should be retired and is fighting for the dough. ( can't blame him)

Hope he wins so we can see him vs Manny but I think his days as the best in the game is long gone. We shall see, all the props if he schools Victor. It is just easy to say Floyd vs Manny because people are very slow to change the guard in boxing. These types of fights happen every so often and the timing is right for a major upset.
