I don't think you know who mayweather is. I think you need reminding.

Seriously? Mayweather is old? Based on a number? :think

Mayweather has shown 3 moments tops of inactivity in his last 2 bouts. And yes, it only takes one slip up and it can be all over. Ortiz is not the one to do that though, Pacquiao would take advantage of that situation. I like Ortiz, and I like the sound of this match-up (as long as Mayweather goes on to face Pacquiao)...but Ortiz couldn't finish off a Berto who didn't have his legs from the 1st round onwards...no matter how impressive Ortiz's performance was.

    Based on a few things.

    1) his aggressive gameplan vs mosley, are we to believe he changed tact just to please the fans? Or is it he's had to change style due to age?

2)he's just not as good as the superfeather weight version of himself.

3)he is yet to eclipse his performance vs chico

    4) these layoffs must take effect eventually, ortiz is as good a shout as any to do so.

I'd be shocked if he schooled victor. We can't treat floyd as one of the best in the world because he doesn't fight often enough. Maybe he'll prove me wrong, but I doubt it, I doubt he'll even take the fight tbh.

i love this fight. hope it happens

  6. this is a great fight. oritz might even knock mayweather out. he has tremendous power. i can also envision mayweather completely outclassing victor "the cur" ortiz aka victor "puto" ortiz.

The best fight (for Floyd) that can be made in the WELTERWEIGHT division (minus the Pac fight of course)

    1) He stated before the Mosley bout that he was going to stand with Mosley and possibly push him back. Everyone took it with a pinch of salt as Mayweather usually makes these type of statements before big bouts, then does the opposite. I made a thread because I thought he was actually going to follow through with it, and he did.

Roach came out after the Mosley bout and claimed Mayweather's legs are gone. He has definitely lost foot speed, but his legs are not gone...he would have went down from that second right hand if his legs were gone. You are basing everything on his age, yet in the Mosley bout, apart from round 2, he looked better than he did in the Marquez bout.

    2) Have you only just noticed this? Peak Mayweather was arguably 130lbs, with him throwing great performances in after that in his prime years.

    3) And? How is this relevant? That's like saying, "Pacquiao has yet to eclipse his victory of Barrera the first time"...is Ortiz a big threat to Pacquiao now also? I mean, Pacquiao peaked in the Hatton/Cotto bout, he hasn't topped his best victory in a long time, he is also in his 30's...

    4) I agree, but why do you assume it's going to be now? The Ortiz bout is a good bout (assuming it happens), but Ortiz is not on Mayweather's level...youth, hunger, etc can only get you so far. It's like the people who say Khan would be a stylistic nightmare for Mayweather.

Mayweather will only really struggle or come under threat of defeat against the likes of Ortiz and Khan if he declines severly. We have yet to see that. We have seen glimpses of ring rust (the 2nd round in both Marquez and Mosley bouts), but he soon woke up.

We can't treat him as one of the best in the world because he doesn't fight enough? :think No, we can't rank him amongst the best in the world because he doesn't fight enough. But you can't treat him as the one of the best in the world? His last performance, no matter how long ago it was, showed why he (along with Pacquiao) are the very best in the world.

Ortiz fought 1 time as a ww and you call this an excellent fight?

Excuse me but you a ******

    Whats next a lightweight again?

Mayweater shoudl start fighting welterweight fighters. How many years is it since he fought a prober ww fighter? not counting old man mosley?

O yea, the #1 ranked WW Mosley, that same old guy who Team Pac thought would be a viable opponent? And you failed to mention that the guy who he (Ortiz) just beat was the #3 WW, and was apparently a possible candidate for a Pac or May fight.

Mosley is over the hill when he fought Mayweather and now when he fight pac.

    I have never sayd otherwise.

But Mayweather is fighting in the ww division but doesnt fight prober ww fighters wtf??

Maybe he should just go back to lightweight aperently he like those fighters better

He never fought any the top dogs in the division. Marg, Cotto, Clottey, Pac wtf is up with that

The hole thing is a joke and I just feel sorry for the few fans Mayweather got left becuase he is screwing you upside down

Clottey, for one, is a gatekeeper. Floyd fought the man who destroyed Margo, and who is also a much much better fighter. He should have fought Cotto, agreed. But don't hype those guys up to be monsters just because Pacquiao fought them. There are issues from both sides holding up the Pac-May fight, but if it never materializes that will look bad on him.

This. Easy win for Mayweather IMO.
