It would be the saddest day in the sport since Johnson defeated Jeffries.

No that's wrong. IIRC Hatton, Cotto, Clottey were favorites by the casual fans. Supposed boxing experts and ESB posters were thinking otherwise. There were a lot of threads saying 'War Cotto' and things like that.

Last week and a half before the poll closes, and captures ESB's thoughts of this era.

:patsch Dayum. I was actually giving Pacman the benefit of the doubt and picked him winning by close, competitive decision a la Brawl in Montreal. His skills dont match his ferocity and agressiveness as they did for Duran. He couldn't even beat Marquez. Floyd would almost double the punch output Marquez had. He would hurt and wobble Manny bad over and over again, but wont risk knocking him out. It would be a methodical beatdown. Floyd by competitive but clear unanimous decision. Pacman would win 3-4 rounds at the most and once he gets frustrated thats when Floyd starts breaking him down.

I still believe Pacquiao can move to a favorable angle faster than Floyd can re-gain one, so I'm not ashamed to have put Pacquiao via competitive decision. I'm not sold either way, but if I had to choose, that's what I'd go with still.

Man this thread just makes me think of what could have been...

As a boxing fan I feel robbed, I'm being selfish I know as the Pac/Marquez quadrilogy was good and all, but I think most of us would have preferred Mayweather over it.

as a fan of both guys, I kinda never wanted this fight to ever to happen. I always thought PBF would win a decision. I thought manny's footwork would be the difference, it sucks and is easily timed, that is how JMM was able to land his two biggest shots in their contest. I like JMM and if Pac were to lose to anyone it was fitting that it was him.

Quiet fanboy. Prime for prime Floyd Manny is a competitive matchup, and I'd still favor PAcquaiao . He'd give Floyd fits. Floyd isn't JMM get it through your head , completely different style matchup. You show yourself you dont ish about boxing with your biased comments. I bet you said Cotto was gonna be an easy night for Floyd.

Pac getting KO'd at the end of career doesn't have any relevance to this fight, unless were talking about today. In which case Floyd's old ass hasn't looked that great either.
