that is true but the video and your ****ysis point to this being the main tactic that produced positive results. I guess my issue is, as a Pac fan, that there is a lot more needed. You did mention other attributes or tactics JMM and Morales had/used but i don't think lead foot positioning was necessarily what was most effective. To put it another way, i still see Morales and JMM giving Pac trouble moving anti-clockwise due to their speed, technical prowess, aggression , anticipation and heart. Would they have given him as much trouble without focusing on lead foot positioning and turning clockwise? probably not but who knows.

so i do think it's a great ****ysis but i only disagree with the effectiveness of this particular tactic. It certainly seems to produce good results at times but i argue it wasn't necessarily the main reason for Morales' and JMM's success, it played some part. I think you make it seem like it was by far, the main tactic that produced positive results, combined with other less effective tactics or attributes you also pointed out. I somewhat disagree with the relative effectiveness of all tactics, thats' all.

    Exactly my point.

I do believe turning Pacquiao is an effective tactic, but it's not detrimental. And the proof is in the pudding by looking at the results of those fights.

So, when it comes to Mayweather, yes, it is a good tactic to use.. but no, I don't think that it'll be the recipe for him winning the fight because the tactic often doesn't produce that outcome.

the biggest challenge for floyd won't be whether he backs up or attacks in linear fashion as opposed to turning clockwise and beating Pac with lead foot. I do think he may be better off using this tactic, that's probably true, but i think the main challenge is more basic.

Floyd's lack of aggression, unwillingness to trade and stay in line of fire is probably going to be problematic against Pac. JMM and Morales stayed in line of fire but used great anticipation and aggressive counterpunching effectively. Floyd's style is very different, unlike JMM and morales, he's #1 priority os not getting hit. Given this, i expect him to employ a very basic strategy - keep Pac at a distance, time him when he attacks, use check left hook and throw lead right hand often, to keep Pac at bay. When Pac attacked, Floyd will counter at times or just retreat and move around. I don't see him staying in line of fire and trading punches like JMM and Morales did. IMO, this is not easy against someone as quick and busy as Pac. He can close the distance quickly and surprise Floyd and as Floyd tries to retreat or duck, i see him getting hit.

If Mayweather can't force the distance & Pac is able to get his preferred range, then it's going to be a long night for Floyd.

He barely throws body shots! I feel like that all his close fights, opponets throw alot of body shots and have a great jab, Pac has/does neither

Watch Algieri. He used a ton of body shots, particularly 4th round, to slow Algieri down. It was those body shots that set Pacquiao up for bigger shots later in the fight.

One of his favorite body punches is the jab to the body, right hook. I think this could be effective against Floyd.

Taking the outside angle is not easy. Floyd is not particularly good at it as shown by this video. And Manny has gotten far better at working the inside angle. Amateurs master the outside angles experts master the inside angle.

I had him losing all 4 Marquez fights. The first two being close.

    2-1 against a past-prime Morales.

Barrera doesn't have much to do with this conversation.

only because Pac haters want to see it that way. Erik was good but fACK... past his prime at 29, JUST RIDUDULOUS. You have Floyd and Pac fighting at 36-38, Cotto looking as good as ever at 34, Wlad dominating at 38, Hopkins at 50!

29 is prime age for a fighter, look at Khan, he/s nearing 29 and it is NOW that he's in his prime.

You guys know nothing about boxing. People say Morales was at his best earlier just because he was undefeated, this is so narrow minded. Then when Barrera, Pac beat him 'OH NO, HE'S OLD ALL OF SUDDEN'

    NO...NO...NO dummies

Barrera and Pac simply beat him, they were good enough to beat his ****. end of story

He was IN HIS PRIME AT 29...

Morales was clearly well past his best by age 29, not much different than Rid**** Bowe.
