  3. Variable (noun): an element, feature, or factor that is liable to vary or change.

    Pacquiao's ring age (numerous wars) plus late career stage KO loss (2 years ago) is a VARIABLE because it could change. He could have one more performance in him OR he could be completely shot (he's 3/4 shot) on fight night.

    Floyd's mental state is another VARIABLE... he was consumed w/ fear for 5 years, and then nutted up and took the fight... he could retreat back into fear once the bell rings or he could rise to occasion mentally.

    These are VARIABLES.
