Mayweather vs Thurman or Porter will never happen because it won't sell enough PPV's

  1. Nah I think it'll take either of them one big win to be established. Like ortiz beating berto or garcia knocking Khan out. They need a good opponent.

I think they should put thurman in with someone like cotto at a catch weight or against maidana at welter both fights are winnable and can set a Floyd fight.

    doesn't always work like that
not easy to predict who will become a PPV star and who won't
look at jones and Hopkins - best fighters of their era - and neither were PPV stars
even tito and Oscar couldn't really lift hopkins' appeal

porter definitely wont become a ppv star and he has power and has fought tough opposition as of late, he is a very good fighter

By the time 2015 comes around, especially September, one of those 2 guys or Danny Garcia may well have had a few good wins and emerged as the clear best contender at WW. If Porter beat Brook this summer, another top 5-10 WW such as Guerrero, Khan etc in winter and again in spring 2015 it would most likely sell well. Same with Thurman or Garcia if they put a successful set of wins together.

Really its too early to say yet.

Even if Thurman was a bigger name Floyd still wouldn't fight him unless he looked really vulnerable In his next couple fights

    Let's be real
    Thurman is no Canelo

Styles make fights but it does make it interesting to note how hard of a time khan recently had with Diaz and how easy of a time Thurman had several weeks ago when he fought Diaz

Well, six months ago nobody would have ever imagined Mayweather fighting Maidana because it wouldn't sell enough PPVs……..

Oh wait… that fight didn't sell enough PPVs. LOL

He managed to sell maidana and guerrero yet these two wouldnt sell? Dont get me wrong I would like to see either of these two get one or two more big fights before a mayweather fight but it would not be unsellable.

Latino fighter = better ppv numbers. ultimately this all means maybe mayweather will be forced to fight pacquaio should lara beat canelo. maidana, khan then pacquaio.

it's at a point now where fans don't care to watch any floyd fight unless he fight his boogeyman.

It will never happen because both Thurman and Porter will get exposed in the next 18 months, of not less.

While what the OP is saying is true of someone like Lara though. Even if Lara beats Canelo 12-0, outside of hardcore fans nobody will give a crap about him and he will just send casuals to sleep.

i think if them two fight the winner will be big enough especially if thurman can get a name on his resume like paulie for porter
