sometimes you need to put your nationality aside to understand things a little better...
floyd isnt fighting blown up welters this time for a 'title' (dont credit paper titles in a sport where each division has half a dozen 'world champions'), hes fighting a guy who walked in against trout less than 10 pounds shy of what andre ward walked in against dawson - and just shy of being a LHW

if that doesnt make sense to you, all considering floyd started at 130, then i cant help you

be happy the fight is made because many people who UNDERSTAND why this fight was never going to happen at 154 - or 147 - didnt think it would, including me
its a good compromise for both fighters

Okay, I guess then fighters at every division should start using catchweight. Like Pacquiao should fight Brandon Rios at a catchweight of 138 because Brandon Rios rehydrates to like 160 lbs. I mean Pacquiao started as a flyweight; if you don't understand, I can't help you. In addition, Rigondeaux should've fought Donaire at a catchweight because obviously Donaire is a gigantic fighter in his division. You know Rigondeaux is too small after all.

I'd rather this fight not be tarnished by a catchweight. I was never in favor of Floyd always trying to weasel his way to an advantage. Floyd never relinquished his title at 154 lbs.; this fight didn't need a catchweight.

i've already told you why it did
boxing is "tarnished" by multiple federations who give away bogus 'world titles' and the promoters who manipulate them to fool casual fans, not by a mutual compromise being made for a fight everybody wants to see

the only thing "tarnished" here is the inability of some fans to embrace this fight - so stop making excuses before a punch has even been thrown

Both u and mexi-box r goofy. One a Alverez nut, the other a Mayweather nut. Alverez possess basic boxing skills and will only give Mayweather problems with size and power. But because he might be too strong regardless of his basic skills, and Mayweather scares easily, he dragged him down a bit, albeit lower if he had his wayway.

not a floyd nut, just trying to explain to a patriotic mexican why the fight had to be a catchweight

of course floyd would have made the fight lower if he could - just like canelo would have made it higher
but a catchweight was the only real option

Alverez would have made the fight at 154 . His weight limit. The catchweight is just insurance. Something I find humorous because even if it was at 154 Floyd should be able to beat him. Floyd is bullshitting no one but himself and his mad fans. But Floyd knows that he cant give the one and only potential edge Alverez will have and that is size and power. The thing is it didnt look like Mayweather got the final say in bringing him down anymore so now it looks like its 50/50 Alverez will come in hurt by the extra weight loss. Mexi-box seems to think Alverez is invincible though so its tough explaining to him wat Alverez's chances are.

This is getting ridiculous! All these keyboard warrior, wannabe boxing experts think they know what is best for boxing.

Get a life, as your opinion holds little to no weight in the grand scheme of things.

Is Floyd a hypocrite for negotiating a catchweight? Of course. After all the bitching he did about Pac's lame ass

catchweight fights and requests, it leaves a bit of a sour taste.

Does this diminish the significance and importance of this fight. Hell no!

We are getting a magnificent fight. A fight, boxing fans and casuals have been calling for.

I predict come August the atmosphere surrounding this fight is going to be electric and surreal.

September 14, 2013 is a date I am really looking forward to.

To those of you on here bitching about the details surrounding how the fight was made(******ed *******s, anal retentive boxing fans, I'm talking to you) relax and enjoy the fight.

Otherwise **** off and don't watch cuz no matter how much your mommy tell you different, your opinion really doesn't matter.

    Boxing rules! Viva el box!!!!

To summarise, catchweights are good if it is Floyd , bad if anyone else.

It may well be - but doesn't stop it from being one of the most blatant acts of hypocrisy. It's still a catchweight in a division he's won 2 belts in before and claimed he only fights people where they're comfortable.

Hilarious *****s trying to say 152 was for Canelo's benefit :rofl

    from doug fischer's mailbag:

"However, something that Mayweather’s very vocal and extremely sensitive fans fail to grasp is that it’s not the catchweight that most fans are criticizing; it’s the hypocrisy."

They are in hyper-defensive mode - you just have to read some of the stupid comments from some who are in denial...

Don't get me wrong.. Its a great fight.. A super fight I may say.

But a catchweight.. From a guy who fought twice already at full 154, says he wants to fight the opponent where he's comfortable at, says that he doesn't do catchweights, bashes another boxer for fighting at CWs, fighting for belts at a cw..

Its plainly clear that its hypocrisy.

Reading all these comment *****s are such:lol::nut:patsch. After years of taunting PAC about his catchweight and how he drains his opponents suddenly its very reasonable for Floyd :nut:patsch.
