Just stating facts. A lot of hypocrites on this board.

Yeah, everyone. It's human nature. We are all ultimately concerned with our own self interests. It's almost impossible not to be a hypocrite. Mayweather though is a big time public figure who blatantly, and publically contradicted himself.

It's called negotiating for a reason. You start at a low, unreasonable catchweight that you know the other side will not accept. They wanted 154, Mayweather wanted something like 150 probably. They budged to 152 but it doesn't matter, Floyd never seriously thought the Canelo team would fight that much lower than 154.

Catchweight's are known for being fight killers. I remember when Roach/Pacquiao told Mosley to come down to 142 and they would fight him, this was in 2009. Despite Mosley desperately accepting this highly unreasonable catchweight, Team Pacquiao went back on their offer and ducked Mosley. They also asked Cotto to go down to 142, then at the end of negotiations, they come up with 145.

i fully appreciate how things are (although i was unaware a beltholder has to bring his title to any fight within that limit), but believe title fights shouldn't be at catchweight. a 150 limit, for instance, would be closer to the ww limit than the lmw and belt they'd be fighting for.

if catchweight is the only way to get a fight on, fine, just don't call it a title fight. it's for a limit that doesn't exist. (please note i'm aware this ain't how things are!)
