This is one comment from a guy who is trying to negotiate a deal for a fight. Of course he wants to get out in front and get the fans to pressure Floyd.

I'm not going to get worked up about this unless/until the contracts are either signed for this fight or the the guys sign contracts to face other opponents and site this as the reason.

It's amazing. After defending and making excuses for their champion they bash pacquiao for getting knocked out. Pacquiao ascended 8 ****ing weight classes !

It's hard to justify calling these people fight fans, more like ****ing ******s

canelo walks around at 180 mayweather walks around at 150. i think canelo and martinez need to go to 147 if the want to fight floyd. thats a great idea i think ! you have to middle weights that been calling out floyd for a while, let them take there 180 + pounds and bring it down to 147 then talk ****.

If the right opponent comes along, he won't have an issue fighting at a higher weight. It's a strategy, knows Canelo could be a problem at 154, so is playing the percentages.

If true, it reminds me of Pac now. Pac fought Oscar at 147, but was somehow too small to face Cotto at 147. Those fights were about a year and a half apart, too. Then Pac was no longer to small when he faced Margo.

Switch the names and it is identical. Mayweather is big enough to face Oscar and Cotto at 154, but not Canelo a year and a half after Cotto.

Shhhhhh, you're not suppose to point this stuff out. It might send the entire message board turf war into disarray.

To be fair PAC was too small for Marg, that's why they dropped the belt and said Pac wouldn't fight above 147 again accepting he took punishment.

Additionally Pacquiao climbed 2 divisions directly to fight Oscar who came down 1 division. Floyd won't go up to a division he has fought twice in and Canelo will be the only one at a disadvantage.

However Floyd claims he fights guys at a weight where they're comfortable, claims he beats the best at 154 and has fought there twice and has held that belt hostage for over a year!!!

So both situations are not comparable at all - that is if the story about Mayweather asking for 147 is actually true which we don't know for sure. But if it s true it's beyond a joke and anyone who tries defending it will just look dumb

Mayweather is a ****ing disgrace. I no longer regard him as the best p4p.
That distinction should go to either Marquez or Andre Ward.

FFS, everyone with a knowleadge of boxing allready knows that p4p, Mayweather beats Canelo.
To ask Canelo to drain to 147 lbs and catch him in less than 100% form is disgraceful.

I think whats happening here is that with Mayweather's poor PPV buyrate vs Guerrero (no way did that fight sell over 1 mil ppv) if it did, then Mayweather should keep right on fighting the 2nd tier.

But I think whats happening is that Showtime is putting the pressure on Mayweather to make the Canelo fight and now Mayweather is putting up roadblocks.
Making demands with the purpose to have Canelo say no to them.

Mayweather knows damn well Canelo cant make the 147 lbs limit.
Mayweather might as well fight Guerrero again in a rematch. Guerrero would have as much if not more of a chance to beat Mayweather than Canelo would at 147 lbs.

That's the thing. They're not even wanting to do that. It's 147 or nothing.

In fairness to Pac, the the request for 145 against Cotto was seen as acceptable because his only fight at 147 was one that was being dismissed for being against a dead man. He was still an unknown commodity at 147 and Cotto was regarded as the first real live welterweight he was facing - which is why no one at the time kicked up a fuss at it being 145. It was only when he battered him that it became an issue.

Mayweather, on the other hand, has had two fights at 154 and has held belts there twice. In fact, only just a few weeks ago he was rated as the Ring Magazine and WBA Super Champion - an honor which he held for a year! Now all of a sudden he becomes too small to defend those statuses? He's also someone who's spent the best part of the last three years criticising Pacquiao for bringing people down in weight and boasting about allowing his opponents to fight in circumstances where they can be their best.

So the situation is not at all similar to Pac's.

They all do it. It's a business. Use their popularity to an advantage. It's the name of the game. When your pulling in the numbers you can tell the opposition what type of fight you want to sway it in your favour and make excuses when needed.

Probably why the Floyd-Pac didn't fight both are use to dictating terms

Well for now I will be speculative. The 147 weight limit is something the Mayweather fans have demanded, but nothing from the Mayweather team so far. I would hope that the demand is more for negotiating and getting other terms in his favor. Alvarez could seriously die trying to cut that much weight.

Plus, people are demanding the fight to see an interesting fight. It wouldn't be that interesting seeing a healthy fighter dance circles around a dead man. There is no one at 147 who has any advantages over Mayweather. Sure Alvarez would be bigger and stronger than Mayweather at 154, but Mayweather is taller, faster, and more skilled. That should make the advantages even out and for a fair fight.

Except one didn't have any stats to back up him dictating terms and one was scared to drug test. :conf

Ad******g for any weight nonsense... Any honest Boxing fan sees Mayweather quickly landing a few forcing Alvarez on the offensive. Alvarez then attempts to chase Mayweather down and land big shots gassing in the process. Mayweather then dances around and pot shots/counters to a win.

Problem is, these guys wouldn't give Mayweather credit for beating Alvarez at say, 151. Just like many die hard fans would not give Alvarez full credit for beating Mayweather at 154. Also, if he loses, where does that leave Alvarez' options? Mayweather would become legend.
