The whole point of weight divisions is so a fighter doesn't have a significant size advantage over his competition? I guarentee if Mayweather was to face Danny Garcia at 147lbs people would go crazy about Floyd making him come up in weight.
He's only fought at 154 twice... and for Cotto he came in at 149 or 150. So if Floyd fights Canelo at 154, comes into the fight at 150 baring in mind that is apparently close to what he walks around at.. and Canelo comes in at 170 - 175, the latter is close to two stone difference. At the end of the day, Floyd is the "money machine" as he likes to call it and to some extent it's true. The fact is, he's the one who's done the big PPV numbers and is the house hold name, Canelo isn't. Also (I may be wrong here..), but wasn't Floyd stripped of his title at 154 shortly before he stepped in the ring with Guerrero? And for the people moaning about Floyd bringing Canelo down in weight, what about when Canelo has fought people coming up in weight? Matthew Hatton and Josesito Lopez at 154.. really?
Literally cannot stop laughing. Garcia has never fought at 147 so this would be another bull**** move mate. Floyd has fought at 154 whether you like it or not. So if he wants to fight canelo then 154 it is. Like I said last night, drop that belt if you don't want to compete in that division.
We don't know what he came in for Cotto, cause he refused same day weighin. Just like he refused same day weighin in all but 1 fight since 2007.
Garcia has never fought before at 147 Floyd has been a belt holder at 154. No comparison. Floyd is class no doubt about it, but he seriously needs to face a real challenge where the odds are not stacked in his favour as always.
Maybe he was 157? Speculated where anyway, his camp manager claimed 147 Oh and JMM claimed he was a MW in their match. Not sure where the 2 stand on the credibility scale
Sigh. Because he's still the WBA Super Champ at the weight, as well as the Ring Magazine number one. So forgive us for wanting him to defend those honours against another fighter at that weight. Not to mention, for the past three years he's been criticising Pacquiao for bring fighters down in weight, whilst taking pride in himself for allowing his opponents to fight at weights that they're comfortable at. Also, the only reason this fight with Canelo is intriguing is because of the weight advantage he, Canelo, holds. If you take that away, then what the hell is the point?
Yeah, being number one of the division is meaningless. atsch Da'****, Jonsey. You've been atrocious this thread. :-(
I don't see how Canelo can possibly make 147. Floyd thinks he can do what he likes but if he fights again this year against someone like Alexander I think he'll find his PPV drawing power takes a nose-dive...the Guerrero fight was dull and people aren't shellling out all those $ for another easy bout...
