Unfortunately, that probably won't happen. His boring mismatch (boring to the casuals, that is) against Guerrero was a PPV success. As long as that keeps happening, he won't be forced by anyone into taking dangerous fights. Being on Showtime -- who are there to kiss his ass and not challenge him like HBO would -- doesn't help the situation, either. They're a second-rated network and are just glad to be having him on their channel, regardless of who he's facing.
Whatever, man. If you can't understand why a champion at a weight is expected to fight another champion at that weight, then there's no point further discussing this with you.
True but Ortiz, Cotto, Guerrero fights were at a rate of one a year. If he does now fight 6 times in 2 and a half years that changes things potentially quite a bit...the fights are less of a novelty... Also, going into the Guerrero fight people were wondering if Floyd might get old...if he fights again soon that won't really be a point of interest...added to the fact that Cotto caused him trouble and Guerrero didn't...
:rofl Keep believing the bull**** they feed you. Fight with guerrero did less than a mill. Showtime lost around 10m. Hence they trying to get haymon to persuade floyd to fight canelo as that's one fight where the ppv figures will go through the roof.
Don't be so bloody stupid, Alvarez is no more a LMW than I am. He is a physical freak like Paul Williams, someone who can drain and then rehydrate to near the LHW limit to take advantage of the ****ed up rules.....They aren't just ****ed up because Floyd is involved, they are ****ed up period. When I pay my money to see two LMWs fight, thats exactly what I want to see, the sooner we get back to weigh ins a couple of hours before a fight the better. If Alverez and his like want to kill themselves by trying to take advantage under those circumstances then he should feel free to try.
:rofl Industry sources have said the fight did well below a mill. Espinoza is saying that to save face. The reality is there is only one winner from this deal and that is floyd. Showtime ain't going to make much money from the opponents that floyd has lined up. He's got his 32m guarantee, no need to even try fight someone that's a threat.
While I agree with you, rules are rules ice. He can rehydrate how much he wants. Like I mentioned a few pages, fight at 154 but only let canelo rehydrate to 164. That shouldn't cause an issue as ortiz cotto and dlh were around that weight when they fought floyd :good
Nope, floyd has that deal so he can do what he wants. Like I said, Haymon and showtime are the ones trying to get floyd into this match up as it will make some serious money. Name me one other opponent where floyd could generate 1.5m buys that's out there? Don't mention any TR guys.
I would have a ruling that says you can only hydrate up to the next weight limit (160) but we are in general agreement. Alvarez wouldn't take the fight I don't think under those circumstances, he'd be like the walking dead.
Void is void. Why people still try and defend him is ridiculous. The 2nd half of his career, from 140 and up has been a complete abortion. What a waste.
The fight isnt worth **** all at Welter. The only reason people think Canelo stands half a chance is because he is a big light middleweight.
