Its simple really, when I watch a LMW fight I just want to see LMWs fighting, I don't want to watch a man who has the physical ability to dehydrate himself and then whack 20 pounds back on in 36 hours....It may be within the rules but from a sports point of view its cheating
It staggers me how brazen people are about weight... The sport is well and truly ****ed. It's been bent and manipulated so much people can't see sense anymore.
How? The head of Showtime Sports and Golden Boy Promotions (who promote Canelo and Floyd though he doesn't like to admit it) have both publicly stated that discussions have been had about the fight. You cannot deny that. Now Canelo's trainer who is part of these discussion (we assume) has said that Floyd has demanded Canelo moves down in weight. Who's clutching at straws?
And this is posted in British Boxing Forum because?... Anyway, Mayweather is just doing what he does best, what he's done throughout his whole career. Fighting smart isn't just about the fight night performance, it's about the opponent selection, maximizing your every advantage and minimizing your opponents. And people think this is wrong why? Yeah, he could move up and face a bigger man, maybe lose. That was brave you think, but would that loss add to his legacy? Only one thing will be remembered in 20yrs time... the W's.
atsch Hardly. You mean the part where after 7 pages of people saying "Mayweather challenged him" I asked when that happend and it changed to "Richard Schaefer said he wanted the fight" I think its unfair for people to expect Mayweather to move up in weight. Plenty of other posters have agreed. I have said some sort of weight limit the day off the fight would be fair. Plenty of posters have agreed. A bunch of Floyd haters, who even if Mayweather beat Alvarez at 154lbs with no stipulations would find a way to down grade his victory have jumped onto this and said its BS because of this mysterious challenge from Floyd Mayweather that doesn't exist. I can't even find the article where Canelo's trainer has said this by the way. Have searched all the sites and no link has been posted. Not saying its not true
Why doesn't Canelo move up to 160 or 168 and clean out the middleweight divisions.... How about Canelo v Ward or is it only Floyd who gets **** for not stepping up in weight?
:huh At the moment the only quotes we have are from the Canelo camp. No one on Mayweather's side or from Golden Boy have come out and denied these comments. You're just going round in circles here attempting to defend Floyd.
How exactly? Here's your link btw: http://www.***********.com/canelos-trainer-mayweather-wants-lower-weight--65430
The fact that negotiations are happening and we know Mayweather will accept the fight at 147lbs if proof that Mayweather wants Canelo. He just wants to make sure that he has all the advantages but I have absolutely no doubt that Mayweather wants Canelo more than anyone else. Why? Because Canelo brings far more money than anyone else. Mayweather wants to fight Canelo. He just doesn't want to do it at 154.
He's not. He's been criticised for asking a 154lb fighter to move down to 147lb when everyone knows Canelo can't do that. It's like Frank ****** making an offer to a fighter and asking for loads of options then claiming he tried to make the fight but the other side didn't want it. It's not they didn't want it, it was just a unreasonable offer. Like Floyd demanding Canelo move down. Just say you won't step up to 154lb and be done with it.
The article says that Alvarez weighs over 170lbs for his fights. Something which has been denied by the Floyd haters throughout this thread. When you guys accept there is a difference between Cotto/DLH and Canelo we can continue this discussion because you guys were pushing the fact that Alvarez is closer to 165lbs to justify Mayweather taking the fight.
If Canelo was a world champion at 160 yet he was insisting Golovkin fought at 154, you'd be right. Canelo has never fought at 160 though.
