BT: I think you see that in all of his fights, like when he fought Marquez the first time. It's like a surprise, I guess, when he lands that left hand.

SM: You feel the impact of his punches and when you feel it in your glove, the impact is not hard. You're not like, "Oh my God, he's hitting hard. This is a hard punch." Only when he lands on your face is when you feel like you're getting dizzy. Either it's some kind of Chinese breaking bricks kind of thing, the 1-inch punch, or whatever, something like that, or it's something else. It's something different. It's not the same traditional punch that's strong. It's not the same. It's not the pressure of the impact. It's not like, "Boom! Oh ****, this ****'s hard. Damn, he's hitting hard." When somebody gets a punch on you and you catch it on your glove, you're like, "Damn, that was hard. He hits hard. He's heavy-handed." He's not heavy-handed. That's what throws you off. He's not heavy-handed. It's like a snap at the end or something. It's like, POP, and then you fall down and then wobble or something; it's like the wierdest thing

Pac has that mike tyson kind of pwoer. Not big and thudding, more like fast, snappy and full of leverage. Pacquiao puts everything into his power shots. Freddy Roach talks about Pacquiao's power all the time.

This is what Rashad Holloway had to say about him...

After spending several weeks in the Philippines with Pacquiao before his November 13 win over Margarito in Texas, Holloway fought on the undercard and then flew to Sydney the next day to go into camp with Wood at John Singleton's Central Coast retreat.

''Manny is a special fighter,'' Holloway said. ''He tore Margarito to pieces. He did what I thought he would do, but I didn't think it was going to be that easy. But that's Manny for you.

''He is phenomenal. His balance, his co-ordination, he has the fastest feet I have ever seen, and the way his hands flow together … he can punch in mid-air and knock you out. He can develop power in those shots, I don't know how - he is a freak. He is not a strong guy physically but he has very explosive speed. He is a strong puncher, he has what we call in boxing 'that snap'.''

Its physics. Physics doesn't care about anything that happened before the moment of impact. All it cares about is the moment of impact. What is the impulse of force. Proper timing of muscles to create that last instant of extremely high force.

Look at Pacquiao's legs. They're tree trunks. Of course he hits like a mule. Combine that with speed & odd angles, and he's gonna be a very tough nut to crack. I really don't see where the surprise is here.

Manny generates large amounts of force with his legs and core, he then conserves that force for his opponents better than others by having loose, fluid shoulders.
Punching is a throwing motion (biomechanically speaking, so are things like kicking), that's why the arm accelerates when thrown properly, that's the snap you guys are talking about. Caused by having those loose shoulders, the snappy puncher doesn't have arms, he has a powerful body that propels two whips. Boxers shouldn't be aware that they have arms when they are punching.

watch his older fights, his punches doesnt even look strong and yet his opponent either wobbles or gets Kd'd. Often times you will see his opponents touch their heads after getting hit with a not so strong looking punch. Pac is awkward, doesnt mean its ineffective, awkwardness is a style just like textbook is.

:deal Impact is where it counts. For example I like to imagine a game of pool where sometimes you hit the ball and after collision with another ball, the former continues to move a significant distance. In other cases, all the energy is transferred and the first ball moves little to none post-collision.

Why would it annoy you? He did lay the game plan. Pac can't cut off a ring. Back off of him, move to your left, when Pac turns to follow, stick him with a straight right. When Pac gets hit he fights harder so if you can keep it up? The more you land, the more you will land. I don't know what running you are talking about. Movement is a key element of Boxing.

What wasn't displayed was if Pac will eat or anticipate a straight right and STILL land a devastating counter. Or if Pac will catch on and switch things up.

You can tell Pac has a lot of snap and pop in his punches especially when using the bag

    [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-IpjbU_0eU&feature=relmfu[/ame]

:think I've been tweaking my punching technique lately and trying to use less of my arms and more of my shoulders and body.
When I throw a punch (lets say right cross), do I just turn my body and let my arm come out or do I turn it and use my shoulder to snap my arm forward?
