He has lots of money, has not suffered any damage in his career and has beaten all who have challenged him and he does not see any competition that would beat him and I agree. Mayweather is in his prime and is almost unbeatable and I think he is bored with boxing, like I said he has lot's of money and maybe he figures that he wants to do something else with the rest of his life. I am not a Mayweather fan and I wanted Hatton to Ko him..that was only wishful thinking on my part. Cotto would suffer the same fate as hatton eventually walking into something that Floyd has set up...a check something or other, Mayweather is that good folks the arrogant bugger knows this and that is why he has decided to give up boxing because there is nothing to prove...then again he could be full of **** just like this thread, but he is so good at boxing that when he does it he seems to be bored...maybe he could have knocked Hatton out earlier if he was an aggresive fighter or maybe Cotto will say something that will trigger Floyds ego and he will comeback...but that's already been done.

If the money is right he will comeback. But will he be missed if doesn't? I think not, I think if pac beats Hoya, he will try to fight Pac. But Arum will let him have it. I always felt Arum would get the last laugh

Mayweather was obviously worried about some tough fighters coming up to challenge him. Cotto, Williams, Margarito, and Berto. He has money, and feels that everyone is involved in a conspiricy of racism against him, so he figures, who needs it?
I laugh when Floyds fans say he didn't have to fight Cotto because Miguel would suffer the same fate as Hatton. I don't know what chrystal ball they're looking into, but Floyd himself isn't that confident he'd beat Cotto , or else he wouldn't have retired.
There was once a great era of Welterweights that produced a round robin of great fights. Leonard, Hearns, Benitez, and Duran all fought one another. If these guys were like Mayweather, they would have talked tough, thrown dollar bills around, fought junior welterweights, and avoided each other like the plauge. Floyd has the talent to be great like these guys, but doesn't have the stomach to back up his bold claims of greatness by fighting the best 147 pounders in the world today.

If he comes back he has only a few fighters to beat to seal a serious legacy.

Just for the record, Leonard ducked Hagler in an offer to rematch, also ducked the Hawk.

Despite the fact I'd really like to see him come back and get beat by the winner of Cotto/Margo. or whoever's up to the task, I really wish I'd read or hear someone point out what I've been thinkin' ever since the DLH fight: It wouldn't be enough to just beat Mayweather. I honestly don't think the kid would take it in stride and accept it. Hell, look at the personality in question here. He's gonna ***** about it until Christ comes back. Someone would have to get in there and (stop him) really whip his ass up one side and down the other. Otherwise, we're just gonna hear not only him, but all his fans rag about it each and everywhere we turn. I'm not even sure getting my hopes up to see him fall eventually is even worth the potential backfire that could very well occur.

At this point, I think Floyd will attain more respect if he stay's retired.
(He said he has nothing to prove left, why should it change now?)

He has the fight's if he ever does contiplate a comeback tho...
    Williams
    Cotto/Margarito
Berto (Reclaim his WBC WW Championship)
    Pacquiao (Reclaim his P4P Rank)

I have lost respect for Floyd Mayweather..why retired when the division is just heating up.

On the face of it yes.
If he was not making the **** up about a deteriorating body, then no. I mean, we all saw him get the hand injections during the build up to the hatton fight.

He'll come back. He's just biding his time until a fighter like possibly Cotto can elevate himself enough to produce a big money PPV. He'll be back to fighting by 2009.

He reportedly refused a boatload of cash to fight the promoter(DLH) simply because his demands were not met. Why would he come back to possibly take less money for a more dangerous fight vs COtto or Margarito:huh

He'll come back when he spends more of that money, and in retirement, realize how no one loves him.

He's often given off the impression that he wants the admiration and love from the fans.

That love diminishes a great deal when you're retired.

Look at Trinidad. He came back because he said he missed the adulation and people cheering for him.
