Even if he says he went in there with no gameplan, he completely took Berto's gameplan away from him and shook him to his boots...that in itself is essentially a gameplan (planned or not).

Margarito would have stopped Berto that night (similar to the Cotto bout)...Berto just wouldn't have had as much success as Cotto.

I think margarito would have stopped ortiz that night as well, he also would beat the **** out of any of the 140 guysif they moved up, margarito from the cotto fight with or without bricks was beast at 147.

Yes ... there's a reason why Mayweather is an 8-1 favorite. lets just hope that Mayweather is telling the truth and that this tune-up could set up a bout with Pacquiao, Or even one with Martinez.

Is it as competitive as the Pac vs. Clottey match up? How about Pac vs. Shane? Pac vs. suspended Margarito?

And don't give me any "he big, I little" crap. Skill wins fights, not size. (See Paul Williams.)

    I agree.

It'll be the most one-sided fight of the year

floyd's gonna make it look like the total mismatch it is. then everyone is gonna slate ortiz as a hype-job etc etc
this fight would never have even been thought of prior to the berto win.

Not only will Mayweather be physically stronger, but he's sharper, and better on his feet than Berto.

He'll be the stronger man and better boxer in this one.

I don't see how he could lose this unless Ortiz hits him with a lucky punch or Mayweather's legs are completely gone.

Paul Williams would be a harder fight for Floyd than Ortiz.

Ortiz is not going to be a hard fight. He's straight up, easy to hit, smaller than Floyd, inexperienced, and he didn't even look good against a PAST it Nate Campbell moving up in weight, and he got outboxed by Lamont Peterson.

I would much rather see Floyd in there with Paul Williams. Floyd isn't a southpaw, he's smaller, and Williams hasn't shown the weaknesses with orthadox fighters that he has with southpaws.

the only competitive fights for Pac or Floyd out there are vs each other or Martinez. That being said Ortiz is the best possible opponent outside of Pac or Martinez so even though it won't be competitive it is a decent win and vs a young hungry fighter who happens to be a champ and the top welter in the world who isn't Pac. I would prefer Pac or Martinez but there's no one else out there that's a better fight than Ortiz.
