Mayweather will shamelessly duck Pacquiao

A little prediction that I'm confident will come true.

1. Mayweather will demand too much money.

I personally think Pacquiao is the bigger draw of the two, even if Pacquiao/Cotto doesn't do outstanding numbers. I think he is more mainstream globally and brings more money to the fight, especially at the gate, as Mayweather has shown constantly that regardless of PPV buys, he hasn't drawn good gates.

Pacquiao's losses, which are irrelevant, are another reason why Mayweather will demand an unfair cut.

I think 50/50 is reasonable, regardless of who is the bigger draw though. These are the consensus best P4P fighters of the era and must fight and it must be even.


2. Mayweather will use steroids as an excuse.

Sadly, I think that he will also use steroids as a reason to avoid him, despite this being an absolutely baseless accusation. There is no reason to suggest that Pacquiao has ever done anything illegal, other than it being a remarkable achievement to jump weight so well. As we know, Pacquiao is a remarkable fighter, though. The accusations don't need answering but it has to be said that Pacquiao has never failed a drugs test.

I think Mayweather understands his stock lies in the "0" at the end of his record. If he's undefeated, he is valued and I don't think he wants to risk against his three biggest challengers, Williams, Mosely and Pacquiao.



This fight needs to happen but if it doesn't? Mayweather will be to blame. I don't think it will happen unless Mayweather runs out of marketable fights. He will avoid fighting him for as long as he can.

 

If it does, it will be when Nayweather is backed into a unavoidable situation. When the money dries up, he may have to. Does he want to? No. Will he avoid it? Yes.

 

His interview with Sky Sports was a ****ing joke. He is terrified of losing his "0" and he clearly doesn't want the fight. It will only happen if he is backed into it.

I look forward to the "steroids", "Arum", "money", "losses" and all his other petty excuses to not fight a man who will steal his most precious asset, his "0".

 

Maybe not but if can make $20m against a good fighter, he won't fight Pacquiao for $50m.

I think he is praying for another option to make money. I expect Mosley to win, call Mayweather out and that fight will happen. Floyd fans will say this is down to Mosley literally calling Floyd out. The non-deluded know that Mosley is a winnable and good chance to make lots of money.
